Though NTFS is a better format, my device that I bought cannot suuport NTFS rather FAT32. Snookium 1st Gear June 24, 2009 Share June 24, 2009 use partition magic. Create a new partition. Format it fat32. Then copy all files including system boot file into new fat32 partition. After tat remove the ntfs partition and promote fat32 to c drive. restart pc with your xp cd to repair tat c drive. Should be able to work. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
Zniper 2nd Gear June 24, 2009 Share June 24, 2009 If its empty its relatively easy right? just reformat using Fat32 file system instead.. computer expert ya??? haha, once it's at ntfs u cant juz format it to FAT32... the other way from FAT32 to ntfs u can juz format... partition it and leave a small partition which going to be unused which is still in ntfs, dan the bigger part can be formatted in FAT32... otherwise, go find a program to do it for u... If your hard drive is formatted in NTFS and you need to reformat the drive to use either FAT or FAT32 all you need to do is insert your Windows XP CD into your CD-ROM, reboot your system and follow the instructions below: After restarting your PC the Windows Setup will begin At the Welcome to Setup screen press F10 Pressing F10 opens the Recovery Console. This is a DOS based screen so you need to first specify the operating system location, i.e. C: Drive and then log in as using your Administrator Password. After logging in type map and then press Enter Highlight the drive you want to reformat. Ender Hypersonic June 25, 2009 Share June 25, 2009 If you're under XP. Right Click on 'My Computer' - >'Manage' -> 'Storage'->'Disk Management(Local)'. You should arrived in a menu to allow you to delete logical drive and partition. And then repartition it to your desired format. Ordix 2nd Gear June 25, 2009 Share June 25, 2009 FAT32 can only read/write 4.2gb per file. So even if the filesize is more than 4.2gb from a NTFS hdd, it will not continue to process the file beyond that. I recommend you stay with NTFS. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Zniper 2nd Gear June 26, 2009 Share June 26, 2009 chill.. never said im one, remembered thats what i did for my hdd that came in fat32 oh ok... tat's bcos ur hdd is new and need to formatted once b4 u can use it... so u can still format it to FAT32... but if format ur new hdd to NTFS dan u cant juz format it back to FAT32 juz like tat only... nowadays hdd some come unformatted but some came wif NTFS formatted already...
