i said i am not willing to pay $800 for an admin fee. . .

they came back to me as i walked out and decided to "waived my "admin fees". . .

next time make things clear before depositing. . . [rolleyes]

painful lesson for you though. . .

kana, $500 nia. just pay lah. $500 cannot even buy 10 full tanks.

anyway its a damn nice car and if you cannot just give $500 away to the person who helped you get your car, i think you do not deserve such a swee car.

I dont agree leh. The 2nd hand cars are there and we just walk in and choose mah. Its not like its a rare car that they "helped" us find the car.

My vote to TS: Walk away. Its a case of insult. They should have told you first. I kanna once before when I bought my very first car. Say must send pple down to LTA blah blah blah. Now that I know how all the procedures are like, I will tell them to deduct another 500 from the car price and I go LTA settle myself.

any transaction with business you must obtain official receipt so that they can not play punk with you.

Is hard to justified is it reasonable or not,

If you want totally no hankipanki go to company like car agent or well done company but you must prepare

to some premium .

But also beware of the contract term and condition apply.

If you want those 2nd hand car dealer to deal like those big company i can tell you you can just forget it.

to me this call never able to get the

totally Exactly same deal from SHOP to shop

or Person to PERSON on workmanship

IF you really like th CAR why you bother about this $500 [thumbsup]

rather you got a car is $500 cheaper but you regreted it [thumbsdown]

Exactly. After buying a 2nd hand car, still need another budget to replace the essential wear & tear items such as brake disc/pads, tyres, battery, air filter, cabin filter, floor mat....etc etc, not to mention all the oil/fluid change...

In short, buying a car and owning a car is a different matter...You take care of it and it will serve you well....unless suay suay it's a lemon.... [laugh]

my experience is that they will add this only after deposit.

that time i also had to bargain v. hard to waive this from benzworld.

this admin fee is not the football money for in house loan for COE cars.

anyway, in my case, the SE also BS me its admin fee charged by the finance co. so i ask for the contact of the person at the finance co and confirm with them no charges.

if they tell you its their admin work, ask them what additional work need to be done BY THEM for the finance. confirm they cant show you anything. it's just the forms they send to the finance co (prob by fax no courier charges even) and everything else is done by the finance co W/O additional charges

Greed has no limit.

When a potential sucker comes along...who can blame PI/dealer to sharpen their knife to go for the kill.

1) Eager car owner willingly agree to sell their existing car at low selling price just because owner is LAZY to sell it himself on the open market and when car owner wants to time the new car collection and old car handover timing swee-swee to avoid not having no car for a few days, etc.

2)Also car buyers who has existing loan for their old cars does not have the cash to redeem it, if the car owner were to take a short term loan from "James" or "Ready Credit" there is always a $$ charges even if just borrow for one day to redeem the existing loan and repay "James" with another new loan from Bank-B.

The Lazyness and ease of Handover/Takeover and the short term loan to redeem existing loan, cannot comes free for the car owner/buyer!!

I do not condem PI/dealer for making money out of car buyers this way as its kind of like a special service to ease the trouble for the car buyers.

Therefore the admin fee is another brillant idea thought out by the PI/dealer to further earn from the lazy car buyer, it works simply because the car buyers are LAZY and do not have the liquidity to do some of the work themselves.

Or course we can say the PI/dealer already earn alot of money when they take in the old car at lower price, and selling the new cars at high profits. But let not forget that GREED is never enough.

Admin fees, agreement fees, transfer fees, etc..etc....GREED at work!

eh, you all si bei giam siap leh. when is the last time you have actually tipped a service staff? be it a restaurant a shop or a workshop?

"oh, nooooo... in singapore we dont need to because there is the 10% service tax blah blah blah..." to this people kindly GTFO. on one hand you complain about singaporeans not being gracious, on the other hand, you refuse to tip $500 over a $10K purchase. thats like 5-f**king-% can? even the government takes 7%, service tax 10%. try going to a restaurant in london and tipping 5% of your bill. prepare to be asswhipped.

its only bloody 5% and that is if your car costs 10K. please, who here has bought a car for $10K? seriously all of you people should get a life and stop weeping over such things. if you cant afford $500, take a train. even then $500 can only cover my transport fees for 1 month before i got a car.

i swear if i were the dealer, i would be like "okay brother, i understand, i waive the admin fee ok, consider i loss. tomorrow you collect the car". *tonight i make sure your car becomes a lemon*

are you a used car sales person?

anyway, this is not abt being kiam; kiam or not kiam, people cheat you, you also not happy. and it does feel like cheating, because they only spring it on you AFTER you thought you had agreed on the price. and they package it as an admin fee and tell you things like the finance co is charging it etc, when it is blatantly not true.

this is not tipping or showing your appreciation - the admin fee is charged to you. and it is charged to you not as a service fee for good service. it's not a voluntary show of appreciation.

this is not about the admin fee viz purchase price of the car. it's about being upfront in a sales, not taking bullsh,it and and not wanting to be a sucker. in any case, whatever they want to earn, they shd just (or have already) priced it into the sale price. there should be transparency in pricing. why spring an extra "adimin fee" on the customer?

end of the day, if it is legitimate, they wont have to muddle it as "admin fee".

dun say $500, $5 i also dun want to be cheated.

Turbocharged
(edited)

Since it is a COE car, it might be best to buy direct from buyer, pay full in cash and go to LTA directly to settle the paper work.

This way, one could save quite a substantial amount.

sorry, i sell cable tv and maxonline. when got $32.10 installation fee i always will first inform the customer. some give me $40 some give $35. some dont want to pay, ok lor, you go main store buy they charge you even more.

if the buyer asked and they said no extra costs then its definitely gay. BUT if the buyer didnt bother to ask to get the whole figure then its his own doing. i bought my car at $500 admin fee. but we agreed on it before i decided to get the car. the dealer was like ok, your first payment will be 1 year insurance+$500 admin fee. now you need to pay deposit how much you want to put down? this type of frank dealer how to argue about the $500? the fella power also, he even come to my place to settle the paperwork with me. got the car in 3 working days ok.
