Accident vs cyclist question

how old is the kid? was he wearing a helmet? b'cos to crack the windscreen, the impact must have been quite hard. better pray the kid is alright and had not suffer any severe internal injuries.

it's better that you make a police report and to your insurer. if you want to repair the damages, make sure the damages are well recorded just in case this accident comes back to haunt you sometime later.

Kid's probably in upper primary at most. No the impact wasn't hard at all and as I mentioned, he walked away with a 1cm cut and that was it. He got discharged from the hospital with a clean bill of health. The report has been made and since mine is third party insurance, I'll have to foot the repair bill on my own. I got lucky and the workshop managed to locate a replacement original windscreen for my car after much effort, though it'll cost quite a bit since there're hardly any MR2s around any more. The bumper's easily repaired and I'm taking the chance to give my car the final touches in the restoration process by respraying it.

The thing that irks me is that the traffic police insists that I should've stopped before the left turn instead of slowing down and proceeding, despite there being absolutely no traffic all around and the road being a 1 way road. It's a cross junction where 3 one-way roads lead into 1 one-way road, the one where the boy rode against the flow of the traffic. I've never seen the traffic police themselves drive like that. [lipsrsealed] Outcome: most likely a fine and some demerit points for "careless driving". I don't know of any penalty that the boy or his parents will be getting, and going by his attitude right after the accident, I'm not sure he learnt any lesson from it at all. I can only hope that the next time he does something as moronic as this, it won't be the bus coming through, because the bus will not slow down there from previous experience.

Riding against the flow of traffic is also a big offence. Unless police is an idiot, he would notice that it is a head-on collision. Under Road Transport Act, bicycle is deemed to be vehicle. Under the act, cyclist is supposed to ride in an orderly manner with regards to safety of other users. As this kid clearly violates this rule, the best he could get is mayb 50%.

Apparently the police will take some time to establish that it's a head-on collision, despite all photographic evidence indicating so. I don't know why. Lesson learnt for me - take down eyewitnesses' details. >.<

After all is just a kid. We are all once young too. But then the parents should take full responsibility. (Chinese Proverb : Son not teach, father's fault! )

The parents didn't even come down nor bothered to contact me and neither did the kid call his parents at all but only his friends. At that point in time, I thought that said a lot about the kid and his parents...

Cyclist rammed by reckless driver

A cyclist was brutally hit by a reckless driver (probably because of its look your cell phone) the biker is in serious condition but still alive.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iN0ynsfWjzY

Looks fake. The video is anticipating for the car to hit the harebrained cyclist who is happily cycling in the middle of the road.
