Hi all,

Am driving Honda City 1.5 manual 2009.

I would like to install Unichip Q for my ride.

I have done open pod air filter, but no exhaust mod since theres no legal ones for my ride.

I would like to know, what other reasonable mod can or should be done before proceeding with unichip?

Please reply.

Thank You in advance :-)

dont waste money , it doesnt gain much more than 50hp.

face the fact , it is a small cc car unless u put a turbo in.

Hi.

Your open pod won't really help you to make more hp. It should sound better with the induction sound but overall it doesn't help if you don't do some mod on the output i.e exhaust.

If you want to install Unichip, you can do it even without any mods but the gains should be quite modest.

For better gains you can at least mod some parts of the exhaust to have a more free flow setup.

As I don't know how many cats or whether any midpipe silencer on your ride, I can only point out that these are main culprits of exhaust flow restrictions.

Talk to your tuner before doing any more mods. A good tuner will guide you on what needs to be done first.

Happy modding!

does unichip REALLY works ?

from all the postings, it seems like it does

how about FC, does it really improve ? by how many percent ??

It works. The next big question is whether you can find the right tuner for the job or not,

FC saving wise a little. Maybe 10% or so. The best way to improve FC is still your right foot.

talking about right foot, i always thought driving below 2000rpm and light footed

can help FC but i'm on a 2.4 cc and light footed driving givs me bad FC (based on the electronic meter)

highway below 2000rpm, 80km/h - i can see FC dropping

highway around 2000rpm/above - 100~120km/h - my FC improves

very weird... maybe the onboard computer is wrong LOL

Correct me if I am wrong gurus, but based on my knowledge, larger cc cars such as Nissan Cefiro, Toyota Camry, etc. are made to cruise at speeds of 120km/h and not struggle to stay alive at lower speeds. That is probably the reason why you can see a difference in FC when cruising at different speeds. To prove my point, you can try and gauge the FC at Singapore expressways vs M'sia NSHW. Just my 2 cents, cheers.

I thought usually cars are most efficient around 2000rpm? so if you have high final gear, then the car's efficient speed will be higher.. I usually get the best efficiency around 2000 to 2500rpm, no matter what car/size of engine I'm driving...

anyway, back on topic, can Unichip work on continental cars? or is it mainly for Jap? Sorry I'm quite new to unichip too!

Hi All

UnichipQ with harness from any ride you can just bought over. Is universal for other make. Ask yourselves are you prepare for tuning? Have you done all plug? Air-intake? Exhaust? BBTB? All is relate on bigger flow.

FC improve for sure. Hard foot better response, light foot Eco.

How much gain it depend what type of set-up?

I gone through dynotune on 25May'12. ECL intermittent for a year. So decided go for dyno.

mine ride was too lean. Tuner correct back A/F ratio. No regret after tuned.

I went to Dynotechnica tuner is Benny Teo.

I was sitting behind while he was tuning and explaining on unichip and also mine ride behavior.

Finish tune we try one round to unsure no sound from the engine.

I was customer satisfaction all he done on my ride.

Freelancer as compare they have to rent dyno equipment.

full cash payment.

Dynotechnica they have their own workshop. AccSept any card payment.

Price different only $80. So I prefer go Dynotechnica.

No regret. Money worth spent.

I think most people (whether is it cut cost or don't know) have their unichip installed by splicing the wires to the car ECU. Mine is also done that way for my last vehicle.

A harness allows plug and play and no cutting of wires required. The item easily cost over $200 for a brand new one.

If the unichip you buying cost you only $300 range, I doubt it really comes with harness. Best is ask for a photo, it will be a good buy if really comes with one. If you see cut wires... well...

Unichip with harness sure need to cut wire and tap on your ECU then can work. Go for pro electrician if not will have messy wiring. I bought used UnichipQ at $200 with the harness. Harness was too short in the end still need to extend it. UnichipQ must place it into cabin not inside engine bay.

Read more on UnichipQ before go for install and then tune.

For those are ready for dynotune.

Dyno then know your H/P gain, anyway,it is good to rev the engine once a while to clear carbon.

Thanks bro Ke_vin for reply. i have already done all the necessary stuffs and am ready for tuning. therefore, i am not sure weather i could purchase a used unichip with harness used from a different car make. Thanks for enlightening. for most harness for the unichip, would it be too short to extend into the cabin? Dyno seems to be able to get the best out of the car but for road tune is mainly for butt feel? sorry for noob questions as this is my first time into tuning. I have heard quite a lot of good reviews on Benny from Dynotechnica, so it is more advisable to go for dyne tune with him? :D thanks for reply...
