very easy... if you have carb cleaner just spray and the soot will just come off. Use a rag to put under the TB to soak the excess carb cleaner fluid if you do not intend to remove the coolant lines from TB. This is based on Toyota setup. Not sure about other makes but i presumed should be similiar.

i used wet tissue to clean away the deposit 1st, then spray with 3M contact cleaner.

Clean clean after that. Also sprayed into the manifold area, as far in as i can.

easy job. if you don't want to remove the throttle body you can just remove the intake pipes and get to it.

notes:

- use good, thick paper towels or clean rags

- BECAREFUL not to drop ANYTHING past the throttle plate!

1. wipe around the throttle plate first to remove deposits

2. spray generous amounts of carburetor cleaner around the throttle plate and let it soak for 5-10 min

3. clean off the black liquid and deposits

4. use a broom or brick to depress the accelerator. make sure it is FIRM AND SECURE. you don't want it to snap shut suddenly

5. with the throttle plate open, spray the carb spray down the throat and clean. you can use a toothbrush to help you scrub, it'll quickly turn black, just clean it off and spray more carb spray

that's the basic stuff

but i would go a step further to remove the intake manifold and EGR pipe to clear out the gunk. it's really disgusting how dirty it is in there!

outside WS charge how much for such service?

Usually less than S$40.

I tried one of the free lance who did a satisfactory job of cleaning my TB previously. If you are keen, let me know.

u mean after wiping with tissue, then spray the 3M contact spray on it and wipe again?

hi, i wipe with wet tissues to remove as much dirt as possible before

spraying with 3M contact spray, it will then dissolve the remaining dirt

leaving your TB clean clean.

Of course you can chose to spray with contact spray, but you got to use a lot of it.

cheers

Did you used power form ?

Can you share your knowledge with this product....thanks

The key differences between Power Foam and Carburetor spray are that it foam up and the foam strong detergent removes gum, varnish and carbon deposits more effectively than normal spray fluid. Due to the foaming effect, it cleans down the intake valves, intake manifolds and throttle plates when it's being suck through thus providing superior cleaning effect.
