1fast1 Supersonic October 6, 2009 Share October 6, 2009 (edited) Just a quick check with the bros here, since I don't take cab often. Recently, when I came back from overseas, I took a cab back from the airport. The attendant for the cab line directed me to a Merc cab, despite my stating clearly that I only needed a "normal" blue Comfort cab since I had only one bag (there were ordinary Comfort cabs waiting in the bay). When I asked if the fare was the same, he said yes. This answer was repeated by the Merc cabby before I got in. Anyway, the journey via Merc cab cost more than 30 bucks to Bukit Timah. Don't remember Comfort cab trips costing this much; then again, my memory for this sort of detail is not great. So, is the Merc cab more expensive than a normal Comfort taxi - and have I been "conned"? Thanks in advance. Fatfat Neutral Newbie October 6, 2009 Share October 6, 2009 i understand that the premium surchange is only applied if you made a call to ask for one. no extra charges for flag-down for merc cabs. But there is a surcharge for trips originating from airport. costs me $55 dollars to get home after midnight to west side from airport. company picks up the tab of course

No difference in cost, basically?

Thanks in advance. if u got the merc cab from the taxi stand, its the same price regardless merc or toyota or skoda or sonata. only 300C will be more expensive. however, if u get the merc cab from the limosine counter, then it will be limosine price. 1fast1 Supersonic October 7, 2009 Author Share October 7, 2009 Thanks bros, but getting mixed messages here - some say more exp, some say same price. Basically it's just caught from the Airport taxi stand, and I didn't specially request for it. Am I correct in saying same price? Just want to know for next time. Again, appreciate it. Kxbc Turbocharged October 7, 2009 Share October 7, 2009 (edited) My experience: If you call for cab and never specifically request for merz cab, and a Merz cab takes your call, then no additional charge except for the std call charge. Same thing if you flag down or take it from a taxi queue. I think the flag down fee for a Merz cab is more expensive by a few cents but I also never notice as co picks up the tab and also because the cab companies make so many changes until i . Therefore, if you are allocated a Merz cab from the airport taxi queue, no additional charge except for airport surcharge of $5 and whatever 35% peak hour charge and night time charge. Any cabbies to correct my understanding? Edited October 7, 2009 by Kxbc

1fast1 Supersonic October 7, 2009 Author Share October 7, 2009 Thanks for the link! Seems clear that, without a prior booking, the Limo cab is at most 40 cents more expensive than a normal cab. That I can tahan. Thanks to all bros who replied.
Yeshe Turbocharged October 7, 2009 Share October 7, 2009 guys, i can double confirm and triple confirm, taking merc cab from the airport taxi queue or stand same price as normal cabs. However, the standard surcharges on all cabs from airport applies. ↡ Advertisement
