You can also get LED or neon lights off the shell and simply tap them to your existing boot light. One of the places that do up additional lighting is Driverscorner among others. Instead of trying to re-locate the lights, why not get yourself the LED strips. I got mine (white LED) from Sim Lim Tower B1, for about $20+. It really light up my boot area...
