Dafansu Turbocharged December 8, 2009 Share December 8, 2009 I drive through KPE twice daily, if I have to stay within the speed limit I'll fall asleep and crash into something. Further it's a tunnel without any meaningful scenery, so it's very easy to be lulled into sleep around the speed limit, which can be more dangerous. Driving briskly when traffic conditions allows is actually safer. frankly speaking , alot of people are driving at speed of about 80km/h already ↡ Advertisement
Woonyang Clutched December 8, 2009 Share December 8, 2009 this one is fake sign yah, there's 1 dummy sign. the rest are all followed by speed cams. i think most if not all the speed cams are immediately after bends. straights are clear.
Dafansu Turbocharged December 8, 2009 Share December 8, 2009 So am I right to say that if I enter KPE from ECP (down slope towards Changi from Sheares Bridge).. there is no speed camera all the way until I exit the first exit (PIE towards Changi)? The first speed cam is after the exit torwards PIE towards TPE as stated on TS's post right? yes, that's why u always see people speed all the way to PIE exit
Woonyang Clutched December 8, 2009 Share December 8, 2009 frankly speaking , alot of people are driving at speed of about 80km/h already most pek chek is when you need to speed up to overtake the heavy vehicles to exit KPE but there happen to be a speed cam. Robo 2nd Gear December 9, 2009 Share December 9, 2009 it warns the driver when it approaches a speed camera or school crossing or accident etc... on the newer model there is also a setting called Live Alert which works on a community based model. let's say that you encounter a mobile speed trap or accident or any road hazard, you just press a button on the device which will tag the location, you then indicate what sort of hazard it is and then it will use GPRS to send out the alert to all other users in the vicinity to be take pre-caution. it will also indicate in minutes how long ago the alert was sent. there are plenty more functions and settings besides this. Please check out our website for more info. currently, there is no page for Singapore as we are looking to partner up with an agent first. pls messege me if you have any more questions. www.alertegps.com thanks. Chavez Neutral Newbie December 9, 2009 Share December 9, 2009 Are you sure? There is always a warning sign before the cam. I take the KPE at least twice a day. Can almost drive it in my sleep. Metalsubzero Clutched December 9, 2009 Share December 9, 2009 (edited) I take the KPE everyday and normally I will maintain 80km/h, but sometimes I've tried going up to 100km/h, all these is possible if you know where the speed cameras are.. On each direction (towards ECP or TPE), there are only 3 locations with speed cameras.. On each speed camera location, there will be a speed camera ahead sign in blue about 10-20 before the camera.. You cannot miss the camera as there are 3 boxes in total, 2 on the left and 1 on the right.. There is only one sign on each side which does not have a camera after it.. Towards ECP direction - 1st one is near the first slight bend to the left before the Airport Rd Exit (Actually I cant remember before or after, but seems like before to me, it just comes naturally to me to slow down).. 2nd one is before PIE exit, again the sign is there.. Then I think somewhere near Sims Way exit, there will be a sign but there are no cameras there.. (Cue is third sign no camera).. The last location is after Nicoll Highway exit, about 50m after the 2 lanes diverge into 3 lanes.. Towards TPE direction - 1st one is after the PIE exit, about 10-20m away, it's near where the pictures on the walls are.. 2nd one I can't remember excactly, but if you notice there are electronic signboards with orange signs indicating "do not tailgate", and sometimes informing of road closure, the ones which says speed camera ahead definitely has a speed camera after it, coupled with the usual blue sign.. The 2nd one has such a sign before it, if Im not wrong, it's before Upp Paya Lebar exit.. The last one is just slightly before (<10m) where the cars are entering from Airport Road, it's at the last right bend of the KPE(TPE) before u hit the straight road out of KPE.. It's not hard to spot the cameras, like I said, it comes in threes, they are not long or anything, it's wat's shown on TS's pics.. Usually I play very safe and slow down to around 75km/h mark near the cameras, and sumtimes I travel upwards of the speed limit on other stretches.. If u wanna be extremely safe, everytime u see the blue sign, just slow down.. If not, if u wanna know exactly where the cameras are, try to follow a car travelling more den the 80km/h, usually drivers who dares to travel at these speeds knows the location of the cameras and when they do use their brakes, it's usually only when there's a camera ahead.. When u slow down, take note of the location lo.. Of course, I'm worried one day TP might just change the location of the cameras or add in a few more unexpected ones.. But well, u speed and u'll pay the price lo.. :/ Will check later and correct any mistakes I've made.. :) Edited December 9, 2009 by Metalsubzero

Metalsubzero Clutched December 9, 2009 Share December 9, 2009 Well, I know it's not right to speed, but seriously, 70km/h is way too slow.. I'm not using this as an excuse to speed, but I understand that whatever we do, there's a price to pay for it.. I'm not encouraging others to speed as well.. I just thought I'd share what I know, it could be useful to people who sometimes unknowingly exceed the speed limit so that they will always remember which parts of the KPE to take note of..
