Q1: What is the condition?

A1: There is a possibility that certain accelerator pedal mechanisms may, in rare instances, mechanically stick in a partially depressed position or return slowly to the idle position.

Q2: What is the cause?

A2: As a result of wear combined with certain operating and environmental conditions, friction in the mechanism may increase and intermittently result in the accelerator pedal being hard to depress, slow to return or, in the worst case, stick in a partially open position.

Q3: Which and how many vehicles are involved?

A3: No vehicle sold by Borneo Motors (S) Pte Ltd is affected by this recall exercise.

Q4: What is the solution that Toyota announced to fix sticking accelerator pedals?

A4: Toyota's engineers have developed and rigorously tested a solution that is both effective and simple. A precision-cut steel reinforcement bar will be installed into the accelerator pedal assembly, thereby eliminating the excess friction that has caused pedals to stick in rare instances.

Wah, like that very dangerous. You should go back and get it checked!

Would it fix the problem if you fitted aftermarket pedals I wonder?

If you know that there might be a potential problem I suggest you bring that car down for a proper rectification and not pass it on to harm other lives. Thats in plural cos it may caused grievances to more than one.

PLease highlight this to LTA, and Borneo. Toyota has been giving the consumers the go arounds. 1st say is floor mat, but problem still persist, and now say is pedal from certain vendorIDenso?) and MIT not affected. Basically the root cause they find, has to involve certain vendor to partially shift the blame. Now toyotas from borneo seem to be affected too despite not using the problematic vendor for pedal. I beginning to suspect that problem is basically a toyota's design or manufactiring defect. Make more noise to the authority.

Good.. But I'm afraid this may not be enough, as Borneo may keep it low profile so as not to affect the sale, while seeking advise from toyota japan. You know base on reports, toyota japan only takes action when government from the country concerned go and wake them up. If our gahment are still in the dark, Toyota may drag their feet for Singapore to initiate a recall.

LTA has made it mandatory for car makers to recall their vehicles if there is an issue. there is no way BM will drag their feet over this matter.
