Jamesc Hypersonic March 5, 2010 Share March 5, 2010 (edited) Wow so many people use expensive oil. I just use any cheap oil I can find. Some from bottles opened a few year ago. Carloop, Chevron, Schaeffer, Royal Purple, Helix Sometimes just 1 or 2 litres all mixed togther. Last change was yellow + red + purple. If my car breaks down from oil failure, I will post and let everyone know not to do this. I forgot to add - I mixed grades as well as brands. So 5W-40 with 5W-30 from different brands and full syn with semi syn. Edited March 5, 2010 by Jamesc

Jamesc Hypersonic March 5, 2010 Share March 5, 2010 (edited) Bro you super daring wor. try vegetable oil the next time? No offence ah. I salute you. Haha no offence taken! I think there is bio-degradable oil called RLI that is made from vegetables and if it wasn't so ex and available here, I would try it! Its an ester oil like Redline. Anyway I have a big stash of carloop, elf, redline, helix and M1 to use up first before I can try other oils like VX and Ultraman. In fact my car also uses less then 4 litres and then the excess i would just keep and keep. I also do not know why i am keeping it. think its a good idea to keep 8 excess and use as 1 free oil for my servicing... hehe I saw on the discovery channel that there is a car that actually runs on vegetable oil. Its really green. If it is avaliable in Singapore I will also get it. If everyone do its part then the world will not have the global warming then... BTW i am green... Melvinyuen 2nd Gear March 5, 2010 Share March 5, 2010 yes some cars will use less than 4 liters hey most cars lah unless your car is had a bigger engine my car only 1.5 small engine mah And the trick i learn after driving so many years is never top up the engine oil to the high mark. This will reduce the fuel consumption. about 4 -5 mm below the high mark good enought le.

No point having a nice car if we don't have a planet to drive it on! Most diesels engine can run on veg oil with little or no modification. I know in UK many land rover owner use veg cooking oil to save money as patrol and diesel are highly taxed like Singapore. In Malaysia they have modified a diesel engine to run on palm oil. The exhaust smells like freshy fried potato chips!
