flashbang Turbocharged February 3, 2015 Share February 3, 2015 (edited) Thanks! Btw how can reduce the premium? I check ntuc insurance is $4k++! There is no way to reduce it if you want it now. Insurance is high for first time car owners who are 20+, even if you have 5+ years of driving experience. Just have to pay it if you want to own a car now. Else get your father to buy the car and put under his name, downside is you dont accumulate any NCD. Edited February 3, 2015 by flashbang
Nlzh1997 Neutral Newbie February 3, 2015 Share February 3, 2015 But if my dad does not have a driving license can I buy under his name
Berncsp76 6th Gear February 3, 2015 Share February 3, 2015 Able to buy for you, but as you are the named driver, thus the insurance cover will be under your name instead, thus the premium will still be high due to your age, driving licence obtaining year and your experience on the road. Try to shop around for more options。 There are a couple of ins co on the market that offers competitive pricing. But if my dad does not have a driving license can I buy under his name

Ronleech 2nd Gear February 4, 2015 Share February 4, 2015 (edited) No lah....just make sure the car engine is in good condition, timing belt changed, clutch ok and all should be fine. All car the same one. Had been driving one since 2006 and consider i am a 100kg man. Been to Genting countless time. Only due to age of car bush is giving way but left few months so not going to change it as only abit noisy when driving on uneven road. enjoy your ride... Many thanks to all! flashbang Turbocharged February 5, 2015 Share February 5, 2015 But if my dad does not have a driving license can I buy under his name I don't think you can buy under your dad's name if he doesnt have licence. If die die wanna buy then no choice, gotta fork out the money for the premium. Check the difference in premium between comprehensive and third party fire theft, if only a few hundred better to get comprehensive as it can cover you if touch wood your car is totaled. I made a mistake of getting third party fire theft only when comprehensive was only about $300 more. Next time I'm definitely getting comprehensive if the difference is only a few hundred, don't want to be penny wise pound foolish. Get a manual picanto, I read that the older auto picantos have problems with the gearbox. Go to a reputable dealer but note that even dealers on the "good list" also have their own stunts... went to see a car at H dealer at ubi, was told mileage is only 70+k... saw the same car on sgcarmart with mileage stated as 90+k... lol..... luckily I decided to reconsider first. Ronleech 2nd Gear February 5, 2015 Share February 5, 2015 agreed...manual gear will have less problem then AT.....maintain cost also lower for gear I don't think you can buy under your dad's name if he doesnt have licence. Forte3737 5th Gear February 5, 2015 Share February 5, 2015 I would say its hard to find a good place to buy a second hand car. All dealers have their tatics and strategy to survive, I don't think you can buy under your dad's name if he doesnt have licence. Mueltwo 1st Gear February 5, 2015 Share February 5, 2015 I am a male! Considered very small size haha.. ya i find driving manual more fun.. but i dont know which dealer to go to now Real Men Drive Three Pedals.......sorry to auto bros....haha Don look for dealers......u r buying a car not buying a dealer. Go see through all the car list in sg car mart or any other webs then choose which one u like best then go to that dealer and test drive the car you choose. If a dealer is so recommendable but his shop do not sell the car that I like or my type, I will not waste my time in going down to their shop at all. Focus on what car you want then stream down to top 3 list, then go see physically.
Banz86 5th Gear February 5, 2015 Share February 5, 2015 I am a male! Considered very small size haha.. ya i find driving manual more fun.. but i dont know which dealer to go to now What I would suggest is walk around to all the dealers to take a look. There are many areas selling second hand cars. Example: Turf Club, Commonwealth, Ubi, etc. Don't get influenced by the sellers. Bring a friend whom knows about cars, walk around, go with your budget, check the cars that you like, shortlist them before negotiating the price. Ahh, the memories of buying my first vehicle, a 2 wheeler whom i named it little sheep. Followed by the excitement of upgrading and buying my car. The emotions when you walk into a dealership, touching the vehicle then test driving it.. (You can't test drive a bike though) Note: Do not let your emotions cloud your judgement of buying the vehicle. Buying without checking if it is good to move. flashbang Turbocharged February 6, 2015 Share February 6, 2015 Try Ubi, seems to be "friendlier". Heard quite a few stories about dealers over at Turf City... Always be wary when dealing with dealers, when you go down to see a car for the first time they know the car better than you. Get an inspection done at AA/STA/Vicom so you can find out more about the condition of the vehicle, and take the time to go down together with the dealer so you get the report. Don't let the dealer bring the car down themselves, you won't know if they pakat together with the inspection mechanic to overlook some flaws, or like another bro here, dealer send him pictures thru whatsapp but hide the last page which contains the most important remarks section.
