Mersing or Kukup, which is better for sea food & short stay?

Hi all,

Have not stayed in these 2 places before, though I've made a day trip to Kukup years ago.

For Kukup, I would not have the comofrt of seeing the car within sight, though my GSM anti-theft system would alert me for intrusion. I once left my car at the jetty for 2 days when I visited the Pulau Jerejak Resort in Penang.

Ok, now seafood wise, which is better? [laugh]

Regards,

For Kukup, parking in one of those so called secured parking is no worry. Have parked there so many times, no problem...

But nothing much there la, just like chalet. Can play fireworks etc if never try before... Otherwise can be quite boring...

Makan there also so-so la...

Mersing seafood are fresh and cheap. Hotel wise, nothing much to choose from unless you park and go to Tioman and other small islands nearby.

There are some fishing holiday chalet in Mersing which you can fish, BBQ but some people said they are haunted and conditions weren't so great.

Hi. Secured parking means guarded by security guards 24x7?

Thank you.

Mersing I'm not sure...but I think Kukup seafood has lost its standards. IMO I feel ever since the ferry service from SG to Kukup was taken away, the number of visitors there has dropped......same goes for the food there. Went to eat there a few months back, can get better seafood at nearby Pontian easily....also by the sea minus all the disgusting mud and smell.

I always thought Kukup is within Pontian or at least near it. Do you have a recommendation for nice seafood at Pontian?

Thank you.

If its just to relax in a quiet town and go for cheap and decent seafood then Mersing is not a bad place except for the lack of good hotels. You can drive a little further up Route 3 to stay at Rompin - http://www.summerset.com.my/. Haven't stayed there but have heard good reviews.
