with regards to the whining issue... my point of view is that watever summon i get... parking or speeding i will surely try to write an appeal... i am not those above average singaporeans who can pay a fine without feeling pinched... but i also understand if i did a same offense the 2nd time... i wouldnt waste my time to appeal... but if its a first time and an appeal MIGHT get you a cheaper fine or reduced to a warning... WHY NOT????.... unless you too much $$$ or points...

as for comments on speeding a little is acceptable and forgivable... i would like to add... EVERYBODY has a diferent definition of SPEEDING.... i'm not boasting but 110km/h along BKE or CTE i can still happily enjoy my nice double cheese burger... 150km/h on the NSHW and i'm texting sms.... but to some 90km/h - 100km/h and they will become oblivious to the left and right and behind.... probably the car plays an important role also...

so moral of the story is.... if speed limits are not enforced harshly... the roads will be even more dangerous as everybody drives at their comfortable 'over the limit' speed, which is different as with different drivers...

pls drive safely all....

Lots of time it is not the driver who speed that is causing all the hoos and haas but TP should consider altering the speed limit for certain road. How to expect us drivers to travel along an empty road 70km/HR without falling asleep behind the wheels???? Besides, Police force being the organisation of high integrity and sense of rightousness shant be resorting ways like hiding in bushes or in plain clothes etc etc....and you are clling it enforcment as it doesnt reflect good on the unit thus behaving like criminals or terrorist?????

If you are unable to drive at 70kph for short stretches here without falling asleep at the wheel, then please, stay off the roads. It just means that you're not able to pay attention and therefore should not be driving. This means that you would probably also not be able to drive the longest absolutely straight road in the world (north of Perth) where the speed limit is 110kph and the total distance is 140+ km. Enforcement there is either with unmarked cars or planes overhead. If you think 70kph is tough, try the above road at night with your highbeams on and continually watching out for the damn kangaroos. You would probably crap your pants.

Please lah, we got it so easy here. Still want to complain.

Yah totally agree!!! Anyway , i saw a TP WRX travelling quite fast along extreme right lane blinker fully on as if they are on hot pursuit onto some run away criminals but later seen them tail gating behing some car ???? That car BTW wasnt speeding , neither did I seen them stop the vehicle but later zoom off ... Are they justisfy to on their blinker for no reason???? Tail gating for TP wrx is allow????? Speeding without pursuiting any case is allow too???? ..WTF [mad][mad]

Have you written to the TP regarding your observation? I have no problems with TP speeding if they are on duty and this does not necessarily means they have to be pursuing someone.

:) read a few times and I still can't really figure your base point.

But I always abide by this well worn adage... go earlier so that you are not harried. Also, its not ANYONE's intention to get a parking ticket... but isn't it better to slightly overestimate so that one is not harried (again?) :)

well my point is (to my personal judgement) that out tp's objective against rewards had been blurred.

to me, private sectors' work towards their company's interest - $$$

a public sector shud not be this way, since they receive tax payers' $$$

as topic listed: the objective to deter speedsters is blurred by collecting $$$ in penalising them from deduction points instead.

likewise, the historical events of general automotive here prevails that our tp is getting their hands off

btw, i shall NOT say much, cos there are uniformed personnel (or holding tax payers' ricebowl) participating in this thread.

disclaimer: i am writing in my personal judgements that renders purely for general discussion, and that leads to no provocation on any government bodies, loss/damages liabilities.....

I am surprised to see this!

along jalan bahar yesterday, i saw a civilian clothed standing under the hot sun on the overhead bridge (next to ntu) shooting with speed camera.

then along cck hi-way (kje towards bke), another 2 civilian clothed (hiding behind the metal railings & pole) with the speed camera shooting at both directions from the overhead bridge (with shelter).

again, after kje into bke, a subaru tp parked by the road shoulder - around 100m away, an officer with the speed camera on stand pointing at the cars.

that was in the afternoon til 6pm. worse, my colleaque told me that he kana along cck hi-way while travelling above 10kph, at 10:45pm!!!

a fren told me that, on the same day, there was this similar setup on the overhead bridge (near clementi exit) along aye.

then another fren also told me that, this similar setup was also seen along lornie rd 2 days ago.

what's going on with the tp nowadays? so hardup for $$$ that such underhand tactics were used???

driver, pls be cautioned!

[laugh] Sounds like civil engineers doing their work. They are taking measurements of the ground level. I have seen them on other OHB before, other cars see them only also thought the same thing as you did and slow down. I couldn't be bothered. :D

If they are what you say, they should be in uniform simply becos they are on duty and not in plain clothes. Hence they are not who you think they are.

IMO, i feel that if you wana speed, be smart la.....

Dont speed when there is already speed camera or other camera......

When people starts to brake....just brake( in case).....

Dont act smart and just speed...

Wana "eat" the parking coupon then act smart...

Dont park at the place where it is a hot place for summons......

You can do anything you want, but whether you will get caught or not......

ambused or not ambused...I think that is secondary....if drive within speed limit...and observed the rule....then it does not matter anymore...break the rule...anticipate the penalty.... :D

Be glad to know that at least here, you see them physically... Unlike PErth, cameras hidden inside trash bins... to top it all, 100m after the hidden camera stands a sign "You have just passed a speed camera, if you were speeding, you will hear from us soon" :excl:

I didn't know the cops in Perth are sadists...hahaha

Yeah... the good thing however is that if you claim you are an international student and ain't sure of the speed limits, they will probably let you off... couple of times some more if you can conjure sob stories :D

Saw a normal white motor bike last week on SLE, with normal license plate normal but it caught my attention as there is a siren on the back just a a TP motor bike. Thought it was some Cisco bike, went closer and saw the guy on it wearing a "LTA Enforcement" blue jacket. Suddenly, a malaysian motor bike zoomed pass and next, siren on and the bike was stopped at the road side. Wonder if any ticket was issued?
