Aeromania 1st Gear May 22, 2010 Share May 22, 2010 Would like to know how many drivers out there have encountered some "ALMIGHTY" pedestrians who thinks they are god of the road and no vehicle will hurt them. Just some of my encounters so far... 1) Was sitting in my brother's car in AMK central polyclinic area few years back. While on our way out of the car park, our vehicle came behind a lady holding her little daughter's hand walking slowly in the middle of the road. My brother thought she'd probably walk onto the pavement soon enough but that lady actually took a glance on us and carry on walking slowly in the middle of the road as if she has the right to remain on the road. WTF!!! 2) Was driving along Alexandra road towards city last week at around 10pm at night. If I remembered correctly, it was a 3 lanes road. Anyway, this old couple was at the side of the road looking for a taxi and when the taxi in front of me which was about 200 meters away from me refused to pull over and let this old couple board the taxi, the old man walked out to the middle of the road and started cursing and some gave hand signs to the taxi that went off. Me, coming from the back and was driving kinda fast, saw this uncle in the middle of the road and I was like "WAH LAN EH SIAO LIAO!!!". I quickly slammed on my brake pedal and steered myself to the extreme right lane as there were no vehicles on the right but still carry on braking in case he really went cuckoo and walked to the right lane. Eventually he walked back to the pavement. Fortunately I didn't crap myself. 3)Was driving out of my MSCP this morning and as I was about to reach the exit to main road (the exit to main road has only a simple stop line, no pedestrian crossing or whatsoever), this uncle sort of stare at me and crossed right in front of me. I didn't care much as I was still some distance away from him and just carry on slowly move towards the exit. But as I was about to move out of the exit, this teenage boy was kind of ignoring my vehicle's existence and wanted to cross in front of me without even looking. So I decided to teach him a lesson by not giving way to him and drove off to the main road. (Do note that I executed that decision without endangering his life) So my question is, are pedestrians getting too comfortable crossing the road even if it's not a pedestrian crossing? Do share some of your experiences too. ↡ Advertisement

Cotrox Neutral Newbie May 22, 2010 Share May 22, 2010 Yesterday I took the MRT, was at Kallang station towards city and I was standing at the side facing the road and looking down. The road outside is a 3 lane road (i think) with a fourth lane for turning left...so it was a red light and all the 3 lanes were occupied with stationary cars, the 4th lane was empty. This bunch of goondus started running zigzagging among the stationary cars from 1st to 3rd lanes.. and then a van was travelling down the 4th lane to turn left, and one of them ran smack into the path of the van. The goondu got hit by the side of the van and went down, amazingly he got up and carried on running.. I was like wondering what's the rush ? first three lanes all car stop for red light doesn't mean 4th lane which is turning got no moving vehicles lor..crazy people.. Assaxefour 1st Gear May 22, 2010 Share May 22, 2010 Usually in these cases, a 120 decibel horn will do them nicely.

Anyway they are still kids. It's those who are almost half their life gone seems to wish for a fast forward for the other half of their lives. The ones that I am most cautions of are those talking to their phones or listening to their mp3 players. They really walk on the road without looking around. SimonTan 2nd Gear May 22, 2010 Share May 22, 2010 I have seen more and more of these morons. 1) Usually its one group of guy some wear caps, some holding on to guitar, they like to cross the road like their god will protect them! 2) Stepping onto the road(on double yellow lines), instead of on the grass kerb, and waiting for their BF/GF or taxi to pick them up. 3) Taxi drivers purposely ignore 'just-changed-red light', and carry on drivign thru like its still green. I see this everyday, a lot of time at least on working days as I am on the road very often! You horn them, they show their displeasure, like its my mistake to horn them. I only hope that these padestrains and taxis drivers, will meet an equally brave and careless driver like them.

Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear May 22, 2010 Share May 22, 2010 well, it gotta work both ways, pedestrians must keep a look out for cars, and motorists must keep a look out for pedestrians. if your complain about pedestrians, why can't they complain about motorists??? Daniel3 Clutched May 22, 2010 Share May 22, 2010 Hi All, Is there any laws we can protect ourselves from those goondus pedestrians? What is the use of traffic lights if no people obey the rules???? Any lawyers here? can we have the right to sue pedestrians who disobey the red light? I am at a main road, was turning right into a side road, the light for the pedestrian has already turned red. As I was about to turn, this goondus couple still walk slowly across the road.I inched my car forward ,yet the guy actually stared at me. The problem is that I can see cars in the opposite direction at the main road speeding towards me. If there is an accident, whoes fault is it?
