driving at slow speed (<20km/h), when i turn steering wheel, noise generated.

especially during tracffic jams. noise bcomes very obvious. however, travelling at higher speed, no noise.

checked with workshop and was told drive shaft coupling wear. if wana replace, $2000++ :o

anyone experience such steering noise? any recommendation of experienced workshop?

my ride is 4+ year old

How come so expensive for drive shaft replacement?

Is the noise sounds like "click, click" or "tok, tok" type when turning steering at low speed?

I encountered the same problem with my ride.

It usually happens when I am at traffic lights waiting to turn right with my brakes depressed.

When moving off to turn right and releasing my brake pedals slow, that is when I hear this noise.

It could sound like the brakes creating the noise when I release my brakes.

Replaced my front pair of drive shafts and the noise is gone forever!

cost me only <$300 for the pair of drive shafts. labour about $80 if I remember correctly.

mine is a cheap korean ride

another possibility is your brake hose is rubbing against the tyre when you turn... especially if only 1 side.... i also kena that before with my galant... when to my workshop in SG and they discovered is the tyre rubbing brake hose... they use a cable tie to fix up and everything went well

you may like to seek a 2nd opinion

Power Steering Gear

i think they meant power steering which if i am not wrong the drive shaft is part of it...... because you have to change the whole set and not just the part, that is why it is expensive...

i was quoted 2k+ too......... but my regular honda workshop in malaysia quote only 700+rm.. since yours is JDM accord... it may be slightly more expensive but i am quite sure it will be much cheaper in SG.

the workshop specializes in Hondas... hardly see other brand of cars in the workshop

let me know if you need the MY contact.

if its a low humming noise when you are stationary and turning the wheel - chances are the steering oil level is low, check for leaks and top up the steering oil.
