i c. maybe they are still inventing their DSG equivalent?? [sly]

Maybe they used up their budget to develop the engine. Bo lui for the gear.

So have to sell some with old gear first.

Can be good strategy. Every year will have a all new model. Year 1 change engine, Y2 change gear. Y3 change bumper. Y4 change car seat. Y5 change wiper etc... [laugh]

I just came back from the test drive of the Grand Picasso... The ride is very different from my car and it's quiet. The interior is not bad, just some wear and tear which is pretty acceptable.... Just 1 thing that's what I need to get used to is the transmission... The gear change is slightly jerky... I can feel it because my car is CVT so no jerks... Other than that is just a matter of getting used to the car...

Neutral Newbie

For all those who have own MPV with Sliding Doors, I think everyone of you have the Fear factor of childrens' fingers kena hurt or crack by the front passenger door closing.

Sometimes you have unawaring Front passengers that just open and close the door and due to the higher profile of MPV, the 2nd row passenger need to hold onto something to get up, Many times they hold onto to that door frame instead of the Handle.

I own a Toyota Sienta and had a phobia and sold it. I will never buy a sliding door car...

That is a valid concern, the same happened twice on my Sienta for two particular passengers in the beginning, and in both instances it was painful but no injury. Now both front and rear passengers have learnt the lesson and it has been ok for the past 2 yrs. I was about to fix add-on handles for passengers then. This is less of a problem on the Isis, which doesn't have that pillar for passenger side, but there are other risks such as reduced protection from side collision.

For the benefit of those who have never used auto-sliding doors before, they will automatically re-open on any obstruction when closing. For the manual-slding door, there is often a 'suction' feature that automatically closes the remaining gap without the need to 'slam' it shut.

So in the end my opinion is quite different from yours.. I think fixing add-on handles actually meant for passengers will really prevent such problems. In fact, I will go for both powered sliding doors due to the convenience and ease of entry/exit (no need much space to open, no need to close to pass). The funny thing is now my passengers are so used to the headroom that they tend to knock their head against the roof for most sedans and those cars with lower profile [laugh]

Good to have all opinions here to help me (or anyone looking for the same thing as I am) to see all angles before diving in... Really appreciate it... [:)]

The other thing is to bring your wife and family down to check out the shortlisted ones you have. Everyone here can give their views and opinions. Physical and visible examination and testing (based on informed knowledge and maybe opinions here) would have to be done by you as ultimately you will be the one buying and driving.

I find that for second hand cars, car dealers and/or direct owners are very important and that can be a tricky situation.

Been a while since I started any thread on MCF...

I'm driving a almost 2 years Honda FIT RS. My daughter was recently added to my family lineup so I have now 3 kids (6, 3 & 4 months). Due the my daughter's arrival, I must now get a maid to help out with the chores and the kids. Of late I find that my car is a bit cramped even for the current lineup. Add a maid into the picture and it'll be more cramped than ever.

My car would be 2 years old in Dec 2010 and was thinking of changing to either a Civic or Stream of the same age Dec 08 or Jan 09. My question is that is it wise to take a 7 year loan on a 2 year old car?

If you have other makes in mind, please do share. Also do share what are the considerations that I should take note of.

Your thoughts please...

wah.. 25pages.

what i think you need now is a MPV.

but hor, how come your 3 kids are 6, 3 and 4 months?!?! [confused]
