hi,

went for cars viewing today, currently driving an opc.

would like to seek some valuable advises on the following:

car no: SJT XXXX, normal plate

Registration date: march 07

OMV: $11 798

Transfer count: 1

Actual ARF paid: $12 978

PARF rebate amount: $9733

PARF eligibility date: mar 2017

QP paid: $5200

COE rebate amount: $3417

Total rebate amount: $13 150.

lets say the car is selling at $30k.

am i correct to say when i delist it, i be getting the $13 150?

plus the body etc..

is there any hidden cost i should factor inside this $30k?

i know the transfer fee and road tax.

was wonder for a 3.5 yr old car, the car plate is SJT?

i'm driving a 4.5 yr old car, my current plate is SGE..

and lets say if i opt this car to be an opc instead.

am i getting the 17k rebate onto the $30k?

i doubt so right.. even have is the pro rated of 17k over the balance of 6.5 yrs of available usage.

or the opc conversation works like this: $17k - $5.2k (QP) / 6.5yrs of usage = $1815 rebate yearly.

sorry, really clueless over such figures and stuff.

yet don't wish to ask those salesman and been ripped apart [:p]

thanks for your valuable input

ermm, i wanted to buy this car and considering the cost.

and on top of that, thinking of weighting it between a normal plate and an opc as to be frank,

i don't need a normal plate car.

an opc suits me greatly

$13,150 is the money you get back when you delist NOW!

if you drive the full lifespan of the car.. which is 10yrs or in your case 6.5yrs.... the amount you get back should be 55% of you OMV... which is about $6k

so if you pay $30k for the car.. your effective per annum depreciation is $24k / 6.5 yrs.... which is $3k+...

but if anytime you sell the car before it reaches the end of its lifespan... your depreciation will be very high... dun have to know what car you buy.. and i be qquite sure when you sell the car to dealer.. they will most likely quote you paper value + 1-2k at the most....

may i ask, since stated on the paper, the PARF expiry is dated march 2017, with a rebate of amount $9733.

plus the COE rebate at $3417.

shouldn't i be getting $13150 at end of life?

Assuming if u drive yr car until the end of yr COE period (March 2017), yr COE rebate will be $0 at the end of yr COE period. So u will only get back yr Parf rebate of $7,138 in cash

OMV: $11 798

so ARF is 110% of OMV = $12,978

Parf rebate is 55% ARF = $7,138

OMV: $11 798

so ARF is 110% of OMV = $12,978

Parf rebate is 55% ARF = $7,138

all these calculations really no joke.

need to know the system well otherwise like me, will be 'chopped' alive...

i was told by the saleman that if i drive the car till end of it's life, 2017 march.

i be getting 13k as rebate..

so based on the 55%, 30k - 7k = 23k over a service of 6.5yrs <_<

much safer and low cost

Sorry for the mistake in previous posting!

Assuming if u drive yr car until the end of yr COE period (March 2017), yr COE rebate will be $0 at the end of yr COE period. So u will only get back yr Parf rebate of $6,489 in cash

OMV: $11 798

so ARF is 110% of OMV = $12,978

Parf rebate is 50% ARF = $6,489

i just called up LTA about this.

shock to hear the following:

for PARF rebate: still entitled 9.733k when due at mar 2017.

and if i switch this shortlisted car from normal to opc, i be getting 1100 every 6 months.

car still got 6.5 yrs to go, which mean i be getting 14.3k back...

plus if this PARF rebate is true.. i be getting 24k back at 2017..

car only 30k..

cost of ownership over 6 years is 6k...

seriously skeptical... <_<

13k is if you scrap immediately....

+approx 3k body value...

assuming dealer buy at paper +body .... that means the shop profit margin is 30k -16k =14k
