I believe need to book hotel earlier to avoid fully booked out got to sleep inside car

I've been there during CNY before. It's not a good time to go as it's jammed packed.

 

Prices are also hiked up to horrendous levels for lodgings.

 

Imagine getting stuck in a jam where you can see Equitorial hotel..... winding road distance is maybe like 1.5km but it took like 2.5 hours to get there. Was so worried the car would run out of fuel as the needle was at first at the 1/4 mark and went down to "empty". (lights not lighted yet though)

ohh that serious? i was thinking lot of chinese ppl would rather stay back and celebrate cny. but is those steamboat shop or place interest open during new year?

you are right that's why i thinking of booking the apartment now but just want to find out the more detail before i proceed, no point going there if all the shop are not open

Like you....kena the snake jam also about 2+ hrs.

 

Told myself no more future trips to melaka.

seriously, genting is a no no place to go during cny.... it's super duper jammed packed crowded....

been to Genting on CNY before...

 

crazy time to go...

 

1st time i see ppl line up to get in the casino...

 

the room rates go up like 500% on CNY...

 

but then if you like crowds and if you are going in a big group it could be kinda fun...

 

but family or couple waste time...

can go malaka but not on any holiday.. this coming hari raya puasa is going to be another jam day... if you choce to go during this weekend, be prepared to get stcuk in custom for hours unless go in in wee wee hour....

hey bro was wondering if this has been discussed...

 

AA has Genting trips on a regular basis...

 

lets say i wanna drive up to Genting, i choose to go on the day the AA convoy is going... i go infront and should be safe in terms of breakdowns as the AA guys are behind right?

 

and for 1st timers driving up they can 'follow' the convoy...

 

anyone did this before?

Actually CNY is a good time to to ang mo countries like Oz or NZ. All shopd were still open as per normal. Even got some chinese restaurants over there are open.

 

I remember 2005 CNY we had CNY 1st day dinner at a chinese restaurant at Portland Victoria Australia.

Most shops are still open. Some are closed for the first day of cny. Eve of cny, the steam. boat shops still open. Guess they are very commercialized and earn the tourist dollar when it is hot.
