Went MY 3-4 times a year.

Just came back from KL this week.

Usually dont park roadside.

At shopping centre, go early- plenty of good carpark lots to choose, and avoid the crowd.

I read once abt car thief, but cant remember where I read it. That they used masterkeys to unlock cars.

Bro, use a padlock like Mr Bean and remove the steering wheel after parking your car. [laugh]

Beware when in jb or malaysia..

If ure driving and someone throws an egg on your windshield and it breaks..DO NOT spray it with your windshield wiper..it will cloud your vision and u hv to stop..that is where the robbers will make teir move.

Another method is ..when u about to move.or just enter your car..someone paste a newspaper behind your rear windshield..DO NOT go out and remove it..u either get rob or someone will ride off your car away.

Beware of robber with teser gun..it is happening in jb n some parts of malaysia.

For my recent trip, I did the following:

- Park head-in beside a wall, steering wheel fully turned in the direction such that if vehicle is being towed from the rear, the left/right front will knock into the wall.

- Engage reverse gear.

- Use a steering wheel lock cable.

- Use a wheel lock clamp.

- Remove headunit (and other electronics) from sight.

Where can I purchase a Wheel Lock Clamp which is Reliable and Cost saver? Thanks Bro! [blush]

Kelisa can be unlocked with some other remote key, may not need to use masterkey if it had been remore locked earlier

Hope can not be unlocked with autogate keys, Air-con/TV remote control

Lucky sold away mine Kelisa already

another one i heard is that they will paste a pc of paper of such on ur rear windscreen. Many of us wont notice there is smthing until we start car etc.. so if you open door and go to the rear to remove the paper, thats when they appear...

as for parking, i alwys turn the steering until lock to one side, and put the steering wheel lock...

drive a car that is not available in Malaysia, then you don't have to do any of the tricks list in the posts above. they won't want your car as there is no demand for it.

Thanks for sharing.

#4 a bit too sci-fi for me. The car's body is metal, so not sure what signals can come out of a laptop that's not switched on. Unless some scientists can enlighten

But I do believe that we should not be seen moving things from the car to the boot. Thieves can easily break the lock. Happened to my parents [:(]

#5 from other experiences I've read, they don't seem to care whether you're in the dark or not <_<

abt the laptop detecting, it's true.

i know someone work in KL and it's a common understanding among the KLers that they'll not leave their laptop in car. even for the sales ppl who need to bring their laptop ard, they will bring it out of the car wherever they go...

most high tech guys are syndicates, not those break yr windows and steal cash card type.

talking abt bank robbery, i forgot penang or ipoh, a sydicate actually drilled a hole through the wall including penetrating the wall of the safe of a bank, late year or early this year.

they drilled from the bank's neighbour and fortunately they were caught. according to the malaysia newspaper, the device that they used to drill the hole cost in the region of RM1 million dollar.
