Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear September 15, 2010 Share September 15, 2010 the whole point of getting as low an OMV as possible is to attract as little taxes, thus selling the car at a lower price to customers.... dealers get more sales, customers are happy with the prices.... yes, this i see the point.... ↡ Advertisement
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear September 15, 2010 Share September 15, 2010 over-declaring, obviously can only be done to a model that is selling very very well.... then it's only feasible.... if not, don't even think of doing so even in your dreams.... Tigerwoods Turbocharged September 15, 2010 Share September 15, 2010 If you have that much to spend then buy an Alfa which is just around 120K ride with style and pride. Alfa cars are very badly put together. Looks good though, bt if I were to choose a Conti, only Audi ... Actually, Kizashi design looks a blown up SX4. Given a choice I will wait for K5... Flameblade 1st Gear September 15, 2010 Share September 15, 2010 Alfa cars are very badly put together. Looks good though, bt if I were to choose a Conti, only Audi ... Actually, Kizashi design looks a blown up SX4. Given a choice I will wait for K5... erm, regarding your part of Alfa's not bring put together. Not entirely true ... My Alfa's build and finish is actually quite good and can be compared to other's conti make. However! Only my car seems to develop some eletrical fault after my 1st servicing at the dealer and i have to tow it back 5 times. So i would not entirely put the blame on Alfa not building the car properly. Cause other owner's of Alfas so far have not give them any major headach or heartbreak yet. The i45 seems to be a very nice car. However as with all korean cars. Their engine may claim to have more horsepower compared to jap cars or conti cars. But in real life situation and driving conditions, wonder where all the horsepower have escaped to? Hyundai and Kia should do more research on their engine department. My 2 cents worth
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear September 15, 2010 Share September 15, 2010 I'm sorry I dun quite comprehend this. Why would a dealer over declare the car's omv? my point is, they overdeclare so manufacturer back in country of origin, and dealer/ distributor, can profit a bit from the sale of cars mah.... but over-declare can only be done for sale of popular models.... aka, mass market products.... Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear September 15, 2010 Share September 15, 2010 if i'm the dealer/ distributor, i'll probably over-declare the OMV too, if the cars are selling really well.... i mean why not??? [laugh]

Over declare is not a very smart strategy at all. Remember that over declare by even $1 by the time reach comsumer that $1 has become $2.27....because of import duties etc. Anyway most people don't actually go and calculate omv yadda yadda. Why overdeclare to pay govt more? Is better to build extra services into the sale to justify the price. And to Tiger Woods - do you actually engage your brain before you open your mouth or do your fingers just randomly type crap? How many Alfa you own? Build quality is now quite good.... Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear September 16, 2010 Share September 16, 2010 and dealer overdeclare, we're the ones paying the additional taxes, not the dealers themselves.... they can just profit from the difference in OMV declared.... we just suck thumb.... Darryn Turbocharged September 16, 2010 Share September 16, 2010 I will still choose to buy Kizashi paying 6k more for more equipped MIJ car. Suzuki makes very durable cars. I drove the Swift Notchback 1.0L for 7 yrs, the longest ride with no problems even before I sold it. If a 1.0L car no frills car is so durable, their luxury one should exceed my expectations. MIK, MIC cars will look good when brand new. The materials will start to show signs of deterioration sooner than MIJ cars. MIC are the worst I believe. Kizashi just recently released - i45 on market already for how long? six months or so right? But yes the Kizashi is a nice car...very good effort from Suzuki considering that it is their first time in D segment. The car drives and handles well, the CVT is also well sorted - doesn't give that rubber band effect. Although do be careful when driving it - very easy to speed, car very quiet at higher speeds. Do take note though that the Kizashi and i45 / Camry actually serve very different demographics. The Camry IS a bigger car, more interior space, the Kizashi is a more engaging drive - a fairer comparison for the Kizashi is actually Mazda 6 2.5 or indeed the Alfa 159 (159 has 185 horses while the Kizashi has 17+) Champion boss told me that Kizashi has best power to weight in class - I didn't go and check but no reason to disbelieve.... Suzuki Kizashi is more executive ride than luxury car.... so the drive better gotta be good..... plus, it's a 2.4L 178bhp car for goodness sake.... ↡ Advertisement
