Thinking of going for a holiday in Langkawi in Dec. with family.

I presume there is a flight from Sin to Langkawi.

Is it better to stay in Resort or Hotel ?

Is it better to go Free and Easy or Package tour ?

How many days would be enough ?

Any kind soul to shere the above ?

I recommend the following (based on my own itinerary 3 yrs back):

Stay in a resort - Pelangi was great!

Free & Easy - this works if you rent & self-drive

4D3N - enough to see/enjoy all the major attractions

Oh ya.. free and easy will be good enough, just take a few days to do some research on your itinerary and I suggest you also rent a car to drive around the attractions.

Get a car and just drive around, but suggest you that don't need to pump full.

pump, say like half first? driving around the needs perhaps less than 1/4 of your tank?

Well pretty much depends on the make of the car. :)

Dec is monsoon season leh.. sure u wanna go Langkawi? you may not be able to go for the water activities such as island hopping.

On the contrary, Dec/Jan is the BEST season to go Langkawi. Think you are referring to monsoon in Tioman, and Redang, eastern part of Malaysia.

My itinerary when I was at Langkawi:

Day 1 Eagle Feeding/Mangrove Tour

Day 2 Langkawi Cable Car

Day 3 Payar Island Marine Park

Did not self drive. Just took a cab as and when needed.

Any idea the sea water there clean and clear ? Like can see fishes and swim among them ?

1) Resort better, nothing much to see in the city area anyway.

2) F&E. Anyway for cable car, eagle feeding, scuba, snorkeling u can always join the package provided by the hotel.

3) 3 nites just nice. Island hop + main attraction 1 day. 1 day sea activities, 1 day relax...

What a coincidence,

I was digging up thread from this forum over the weekend cos my family is planning a trip in Dec.

Suddenly this thread is alive again.

Had chosen Mutiara Burau Bay cos it has a kid club...so now deciding whether to rent car at the airport or do it at the resort instead..

I am not sure whether the airport still got cars to rent already.

Cause in April2010, I heard over the news, they say alot of illegal renting of cars,

so decided to catch and cease operations, uhmm, or maybe I hear wrongly?
