Does Spark plug increase performance ??

Still can drive happily? Happy go lucky. I did not buy new spark plgs since no need for replacement/re-gapping. After warranty for present car matured, may do likewise (it seems the engine pretty good)

the performance spark plug will give more ignition and it will make full burn inside your cylinder...

so u will feel it

if u r driving a normal factory specs car - it doesnt matter much as any better spark plugs will at most be very marginal and its more "pyschological" than real increase in power.

Ya my car hit 100k km next year. Sud b time to change then.

 

But b4 i change, i wil use my special tool to check if cables got leak current 1st. If no leak, maybe can delay change.

I just changed my normal plugs with NGK iridium and also the stock air filter with k&n filter, and also fresh engine oil. Can feel the response is faster and smoother engine. I do not think there is an increase of power, just that it is being resumed to optimum condition.

 

I've also just changed the stock rim to a 16" inches and 205/45 tyres instead of the previous 185/55 tyre. I was expecting the FC to drop but surprisingly, it improved!

Are you sure they never? Spark plug is extremely important to the engine, esp. the heat range. Wrong heat range and you can even destroy your engine!!

Just my few cents worth of comments

 

I've changed new normal spark plugs to Denso Iridium -- my take is that iridium plugs does provide a more `brisk' feeling when u accelerate and it stays this way a lot longer than normal spark plugs

 

I do not think there is any increase in power but it does provide a more efficient comnustion in yr engine, thus giving a feeling of more power

 

I am currently driving a Forte 1.6 manual and very pleased on the change to Iridium. After using this, when I change back to normal plugs, there is a lack of oompp....

My inputs into this.

 

Your cars are running on petrol. IMHO petrol is very insensitive to spark plugs unless they are very old. What contributes to a good ignition system is the coil, its drivers and the ignition wire set. If all are old, you got super duper plugs also no use.

 

My case in point is this. I run on a fuel that is very hard to ignite. I am using CNG. I am using the normal plugs. Not fancy iridiums.

 

However, my coil, driver and wire set are less than 30k old. I get good ignition.

 

Back when I converted, until I changed the coil, driver and wire set, the system crapped out on me. The ignition system works as a whole.

 

The difference between the iridiums and normal plugs can be felt in my car. The normal plugs start to show signs of weaker ignition at around 8000km. Remember my car is sensitive to ignition due to the fuel I use. For your petrol cars, I doubt you will. I guess 30k km for the normal plugs which is a year. Iridiums may last for 90k. I think iridiums will last 30k for my CNG fueled car.
