1) Will the NCD remain the same after i change my car? or will it reset to 0% for the next car i own?

2) If my NCD is 30%, i sold my car, no car for 4 years, after 5 years i purchase another car, will my NCD remain 30% or 0%?

If you change car, the NCD will be transferred over to new car. If buy a 2nd car, NCD starts from 0% again.

Yes, its will go back to 0% though I don't know the exact length of time. You have to consult your insurance agent.

Btw, just to point out one thing that you need to complete 1yr of insurance in order to gain the 10% NCD. IF you cancel after 9 months, then when you get your next car, the NCD will remain the same.

Hi,

Now GIA rule is that the NCD transfer between parent and child is no longer allow. Only available option is transfer between spouse and they must remain with the same insurer when they are doing the transfer of NCD.

Last time it is allow by the GIA ruling but now only transfer of NCD between Spouse is allowed only. However the transfer of NCD must be done with the same insurer. That's mean no switching of insurer when doing the transfer of NCD.

assume my NCD is 30% now.

my next renewal is March 2011 which will be 40%

if i change my car in January 2011, is it that i have to stuck at 30% NCD for another year? even though 2 more months i will get 40% NCD.

For my case, it depends on the insurer.

Eg. My NCD is 20%.

When I changed car, I still have not complete the whole year with the current policy (I think another 4 months to go), so new car also 20%.

But on renewal, the insurer quote me 40%, so maitu liao, renewed and clocked in the 40%...

i was in similar situation before. here's what i did.

- allow existing car insurance to run till mar 2011 even though you have sold you car in jan 2011.

- buy insurance for new car without NCD in jan 2011.

- by feb-mar 2011, current insurer will send you renewal notice stating 40% NCD.

- send renewal notice to new insurer and they will update your NCD status from 0 to 40% and refund you the excess payment for mar 2011 to jan 2012.

if new insurance i get at 30% NCD and i continue to pay old insurance till mar 2011, after i receive the renewal stating 40% NCD, is it still possible to ask the new insurance to update to 40% ?

Bro, it is better that you pay the insurance for the new car based on 0% ncd and when u are entitled with the 40% on the old car then inform the insurance company for your new car about the changes in your NCD percentage. PM me if you still confused. [:)]

1) Likely unchanged at 30%

2) Likely reset to 0%

Do research as the Insurers changes their premiums frequently
