If you change car, the NCD will be transferred over to new car. If buy a 2nd car, NCD starts from 0% again. Yes, its will go back to 0% though I don't know the exact length of time. You have to consult your insurance agent.

Crazecow Neutral Newbie November 11, 2010 Share November 11, 2010 Btw, just to point out one thing that you need to complete 1yr of insurance in order to gain the 10% NCD. IF you cancel after 9 months, then when you get your next car, the NCD will remain the same.

Only available option is transfer between spouse and they must remain with the same insurer when they are doing the transfer of NCD.
Simchuan86 Clutched November 13, 2010 Share November 13, 2010 Last time it is allow by the GIA ruling but now only transfer of NCD between Spouse is allowed only. However the transfer of NCD must be done with the same insurer. That's mean no switching of insurer when doing the transfer of NCD.

For my case, it depends on the insurer. Eg. My NCD is 20%. When I changed car, I still have not complete the whole year with the current policy (I think another 4 months to go), so new car also 20%. But on renewal, the insurer quote me 40%, so maitu liao, renewed and clocked in the 40%...

Bro, it is better that you pay the insurance for the new car based on 0% ncd and when u are entitled with the 40% on the old car then inform the insurance company for your new car about the changes in your NCD percentage. PM me if you still confused.
