my colleague brought the car to Ah Ho's shop...its on the 8th floor corner shop.

the guy was very friendly & even served mineral water while waiting for her turn.

he checked both the front wheels on the machine & found the RH balancing out so adjusted- charged $10/-.

she took car out for a test drive but steering wobble still exist. brought it back again, this time

checked again on machine & found LH wheel reading out-so adjusted & ask her to try & see-

didnt want to charge anything but my colleague gave another $10/-. for being so nice

unfortunately, still the same no improvement......but she didnt want to drive all the way up the 8th floor again.

so on the way home she happen to see this shop along upper bukit timah-- called southern tyres.

dropped by & the guy re-checked both wheels on the machine & found that the LH wheel reading out.

-adjusted & charged $30/-

drove out & this time-steering perfect(no more wobble-problem solved)

Sorry to hear about this but your colleague should have gone back to Ah Ho for rectification since she already paid him for the job. But I wonder if it was his worker doing the balancing job for your colleague.

The problem can be due to machine not properly calibrated or a obsolete machine that don't have the capacity to detect out of balance below 5g.

ya! that was what I said too, but driving all the way up the 8th floor turned her off!

anyway, she is happy that the wobble is gone!

Sometimes i get turned off too.. driving up 8 floors is really no good.. but to have good service, good price and a big smile from ah ho, it's worth the drive up [laugh]

i agree that wheel balancing is a time consuming job, mine was done in 30 mins, i can see the detail that my regular guy puts in...no corners cut and charging more than other shops charge, but i'm satisified with his work.

i don't see ppl torque the screws after replacing back the wheels, but he does it....

Good to know that. But leaving PR aside, he should be competent enough to solve her problem the first time. No sure what happened for your colleague's case.

You just changed recently right? Then most likely your tires are not scrubbed in yet. The shop is right, DZ101 is a decent tire. Take it easy for the next 100km, let the tires scrub in first before you whack.
