I hope it wasn't a safety manual. Cable wrong hole put in sparks explosion life of loss result will. ↡ Advertisement
Wishcumstrue 6th Gear April 5, 2012 Author Share April 5, 2012 hopefully it's fine. BTW, I used to work in ST Aerospace Then how come you aren't aware about the upgrade program?
Happily1986 5th Gear April 5, 2012 Share April 5, 2012 Buying new military hardware is very different from building one. The later is a hard way and risky path, but the returns in technological and strategic gain are unsubstantial. As a major arms exporter, the US frowns on those allies who attempt to develop & deploy their indigenous systems like warplanes or missiles. Classic cases like Israel's Lavi light-fighter and Japan's FS-X program. All above a full of dispute with US as it tries to restrict technology transfer. Today, we see many US allies depending on US soruces and even sign-on for yet-to-provent JSF program. So yes, politics is always the influcing factor in major arms purchases, Singapore is no exception. Killed - Israel's Lavi Limited deployment - Japan's F2 Locally, the decision to go COTS is simply cost, cost and cost. They are strictly abiding by something called spiral development. Wishcumstrue 6th Gear April 9, 2012 Author Share April 9, 2012 Wonder if J-20 can be classified as one with the trait of Supermaneuverability. This trait is now increasingly popping up as a hallmark of 4G/5G fighters. a controlled loss of control beyond normal abilities Unless China officially states what this plane is intended for, I think it is too early to tell if J-20 will evolve into a production model or simply a technology demonstrator As for about it flight characteristics, the closest I can find is a scaled RC model made by http://rcpowers.com/ Yes, I hear giggles in the background... .. It is a TOY! But hey, almost all plane-markers started out with scaled models before moving to full-scale test... Here is what they found flying this 1/20 scale. Take it with some pinch of salt. Wishcumstrue 6th Gear March 29, 2013 Author Share March 29, 2013 (edited) P2002 now testing with new side bomb bay system. The unique design is consider better than F22 since it allows missile firing without leaving the door open. This avoid 2 problems of reduced performance while keeping the RCS low when missile is pre for launch. Wishcumstrue 6th Gear April 29, 2015 Author Share April 29, 2015 4 years on, Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group has move to testing its latest prototype iteration "2015".This one has cropped canards and vertical stabilisers, a modified air intake, modified wing leading-edge extensions, and a new electro-optical targeting system (EOTS) under the nose.It also no longer spot the usual nose-mounted pitot tubes, has longer and sharper-shaped rear-fuselage horizontal strakes, and like the "2011" version, has lighter ghost grey paint scheme..This version which was first observed flying on Dec 2014, seems to indicate the final layout and configuration with mass production expected to peak from 2017/18. Vega Turbocharged April 29, 2015 Share April 29, 2015 of all the 5th gen stealth fighters such as F22, F35, T-50, J31, J20, I find this J20 looks very weird. don't look that stealthy at all and none of existing stealth fighters using canards. . wonder how is its RCS? Yes, so far J-20 is the only known stealth plane with canard-delta design. I alluded to this previously. http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2659057-china-%e6%ad%bc-20-first-flight-new-photos%e3%80%80/?p=3557164 On hindsight, it should not come as a surprise since the Chengdu company is already experienced with manufacturing another smaller fighter with similar configuration, the J-10, though both jets are clearly designed for different purposes. Vega Turbocharged April 29, 2015 Share April 29, 2015 I think China's biggest problem is still with its power delivery. That is why they are buying Su-35 to study the Russian engine.
