Taoists are free-thinkers by another name it seems and are no bothered with such tivial matters. However, many people add traditional Chinese culture/customs, making if confusing/complicated. My late parents were Taoists with Buddhist-Taoist wake ceremonies as formality only

my granny and my dad passed like 3 years apart.. and both had the 5 days thingy... i was the one signing the cheques and each is in range of 35k. So i think if wanna go budget, tell the undertaker which coordinates everything your budget etc and he should work accordingly. If not, anything just wack, you cant possibly be bargaining at the end of the funeral when the accounts need to be settled.

Buddy's dad just passed away and my buddy is on his way back from work trip. The useless brothers make arrangement for a 5 days wake without his knowledge. I am not sure how r they going to pay the expenses. Chop and confirmed those useless bro will not be able to make any contribution.

Sigh... dunno how to advice him later when I fetch him from the airport.

On the other hand, if we dont treat our own parents well, I believe when we grow old, our own children will do the same thing to us. So we must always lead a very good example.

depend on what your buddy ask for.......

 

a simple one without nightly cooking would not cost more than $8K and also include burning and a final resting place at Mandai.......

 

the cost would be more if place at private places.

 

Don't worry, the 'pek kim' collection would almost cover 50% of the cost .....
