After sales service of VCS

Hi all VW owners, saw this post @ some forum, thinks that VW bros and sis may concern about it:

" Hi,

I would like to let the VSC know that something really ridiculous happened to her customer today. I'm Eric, I collected my car on December 2nd 2010 and within a month I found out that my window mechanism is not working. I went back to VSC and they told me to make an appointment, which is around 2-3weeks later. Okay, fair enough, since VW sales had been good these years.

Today, January 27th, I sent my car for the window repair at 10am. The service agent told me he can't promise me the timing because the mechanics are the ones doing the car. Well, thinking that it's only window mechanism, how long can it take right? I waited around your showroom and had my lunch nearby, then I checked back with my service agent at 4:30pm, six and a half hours later. "Sorry, they haven't started on your car yet."

So basically, I drove there, took a day off to wait for the whole day to find out that my car is just parked in your garage suntanning. If I chose to drive the car back, I have to make an appointment which 2-3 weeks later. So I had to take a cab home, and take a cab back tomorrow to collect the car IF IT IS READY. If it is NOT, I will wait until Monday. Then what's the point of making an appointment?

This bloody window problem is under warranty, barely 2 months of usage. It would be classified under VW's 'fault', 'manufacturing mistake', 'error', whatever you would like to call it. VW's policy for replacement vehicle is for 48hours job, so I don't get a replacement car for that matter.

So, effectively, the consumers are PAYING for VW's mistakes(loss of use, taxi fares, TIME, frustration, loss of confidence in VW, etc.). How is that right? I've heard of countless complaints about the DSG 7-speed gearbox, suspension creaking problems etc. If you guys rectify it fast and not cause too much distress to the customer, I believe most people will forgo the over promised quality of german engineering. You give faulty products and take a million years to rectify it for the customers. With my current gearbox, I have the constant fear that it might break down on me anytime because I do not know whether the car is in the 'affected' batch. I can't drive it to Malaysia because I simply do not have the confidence with my VW gearbox whatsoever.

I'm a big fan of VW, I still love my Scirocco nevertheless, but the after sales service of VSC Singapore is really really disappointing. There's a side of VW that the public doesn't know. People who doesn't own a VW, won't know. 7-Speed DSG mechatronics problem hasn't been reported on local news either.

People need to know, 'If you want to own a VW, you will need to face the bad aftersales service.'. I don't know how powerful VW is with the media, but I will be writing in to SPH about this very apparent problem and get the VAGSG club to support my thesis. VW, 4th in car sales volume in Singapore, doesn't have enough resources to deal with after sales service. 1st 3 servicing free, but you have to wait 2-3 months for a servicing. You're better off servicing at a third party workshop.

There are no news about a new servicing centre, there are not enough mechanics to deal with the number of customers, doesn't seem like VSC is doing anything to remedy the problem. VW owners are suffering for VSC's management problem and VW's manufacturing and design flaws.

It is painful to love VW."

Feedback to VW SG website.

The bad service, DSG problems and long waits. We don't deserve it.

Guys, let's make something happen. Anyone got contacts or ideas how we should go about it?

There's another thread proposing to petition for a 5 year warranty. What are the updates? "

Hi,

As a VW owner, I had long given up on VGS aftersales. I don't even bother to go back for warranty claim. The time I spent wasting with them probably cost more than warranty. But there is always light at end tunnel. I had a fantastic car which are very durable and fast.

cheers

This guy very extra.. I own a vw with 7 speed dsg.. So far so good after a year. If so scared, car will break down until don't dare drive to Malaysia, then just sell it.. Not happy with aftersales, then go buy a more expensive car.. Porsches aftersales service is good..

Well, we don't have any porsche owners(except for RadX) here to verify it.

Volvo aftersales is not bad... cover all wear n tear no qns asked if u need to change anything within the warranty period.

Tink gt a couple of bros driving volvos here tink they can attest to that...

My frd owns a volvo S60 (old model) n a S80 ( new model) speaks abt it all the time...

Once his S60's gear box kaput on 5.5 yrs they still subsidies him half of the replacement out of gd faith... The gearbox alone cost 16k excl labour...

I know Mazda not bad, but could be becoz I know their Service Manager.

Honda and Toyota from what I heard of colleagues n friends, also CMI, which explains why a lot of people go for outside servicing, once warranty is over.

I can attest to that. USed to own a Nissan Sunny and went outside to install solar film, apparent the installer might have damaged the rear window de-fogging element. Did not notice the damage until few months later. Went back to the film installer and they claimed that it is some time back and unlikely to be their which I am very sure is. End up approach Tan Chong and they replaced the entire rear window heating element even though the service supervisor said that it is done out of good will...

How to correct you when im not even active in vw forum..

On a seperate note, i don't understand why ppl bother modding the 1.4 golf/ roc. The gear box only designed to take 250nm of torque.. It's actually meant for fuel economy.
