Rather difficult to get any real answer from them.

This is what I got from my SE:-

I've spoken to my manager with regards to your email. Firstly, I would like to apologize for not being able to secure the COE for your New Elantra after 3 bidding exercises.

Yes, I fully understand your concern and kindly allow me to explain; COE is subject to bidding and it is beyond our control. As much as we like, we want to secure the COE for all our valued customers. We bid in batches of 10 at different pricing scale and some customers do get their COE bid successful on their first or second attempt and some at a later stage.

The launching of the New Elantra is scheduled on 3rd, 4th & 5th of June and the shipment will be arriving sometime mid June.

Rest assured Mr Lee, our management is definitely looking into securing all the unsuccessful COE, especially on the New Elantras for this coming June's bidding exercise (6/7/8 June 2011) and the All-New Elantras can be seen on the roads.

Just go one.motoring to check how much they bidded for your COE. I think need SingPass to log in. The dealer will use your name and IC to place the bid.

2 years ago, KMC bid just short of $1, and they gave me an open cat COE which the value is lower. I feel kind of cheated because my COE is based on the previous month bidding instead of the existing (then) higher value. I feel is an dishonest way to earn extras in someway.

News just reported that the workers in Hyundai factory are on strike for the past 6 days. The production line has stopped....

Is the delivery of the Elantra going to be affected?

(edited)

There are strikes and protests everyday in S Korea. The Koreans are known to be "strikers", but they are very "professional". They will go back to work full force totally devoted to their work once they end their strikes.

Congratz to all that got their COE.

I had booked for the car since April 2011 and had underwent 3 COE bids without success.

I really do not know what is happening at Komoco.

Just grilled my SC (sales consultant) and had send them a mail to register my unhappiness.

F@@K!!

Good to put pressure on the SC but if the deal is signed for 6 bids non guarantee, they have the "legal" right and there is actually nothing you can do. However, if you have signed for guaranteed COE, they have to get the COE for you regardless of the price.

Yes, so I expect owners to collect their cars late June.

Now it's SKB3809Z to SKB4456B

So, by the time we register maybe can hit 5000 - 6000.

the new elantra does not have an edge over forte anymore as its rear is using torsion beam suspension. Avante was using multilink rear and the diff is very noticeable.

Meaning torsion beam suspension not as good as multilink rear? [:/]

Meaning torsion beam suspension not as good as multilink rear? [:/]

Can say so because it is a straight beam connecting the left and rear wheels. Multilink from Avante is good as it is being independent, such that if the left wheel hits a bump, it wouldn't translate the bump vibration to the right wheel since it moves independently and vice-versa. Usually cars with torsion beam will experience a more bumpier ride due to the torsion beam relation.
