Japanese manufactures seems to have BIG problems in its productions and parts supply.

There will come a time where Japan will want to fill-up the backlogs of USA & Europe car supply first.

If local Jap AD cannot get confirmed quantity for May,June, July supply, then Cat.A & Cat.B bidding might be weak.

PI business will not get as much Japanese cars as before, and Open Cat.E bidding might be weak.

I predict the COE will crash to $1 by May if not this wednesday. I stand corrected of course!

Of course if the VW,BMW, Mercs can absorbe the slack...then COE will not crash.

Bro XiaoBao,

Good luck to you and hope that you can get your COE this round.

BTW, just for info, my friend already registered his car last week after the successful bid during the last COE bidding. Looks like the SE was pretty desperate for the sale. My suggestion is for you to put some pressure on the SE. After 6 bids if not successfully, you can walk down Leng Kee Road and book the new Avante....

Firstly, congrats to you bro for your purchasing of new car.

Secondly, i would like to ask did you sign g'teed COE package with ur AD? If yes, your COE is confirm g'teed by law because it's stated on the purchase order. If not, ur SE might be just saying something untrue. Look at the link below and u will know more what i am talking abt.

Answering to your questions, Basically you need to see what is your COE rebate value at? If the rebate of COE is at $43k, then when COE drop to $35k you will have your $8k back. Hope that's help.

theres such a thing called COE rebate level ? hmm... is there a rough estimate just for me to understand how it works ?

There is no rough estimate, everything should be written on the purchase order. The Car model u bought, the color, the prices, the coe rebate and so on and so forth....

If new car COE drop, will the used car market price also follow? Or because ppl cannot get new car will all go buy used car and will then used car more expensive?

Normally prices of new car up or down will affect the value of preown car. Problem here is that it is very difficult to gauge correlation between the two. It depends on how old your car is... the older (lesser value), the correlation would be lower. Example, maybe brand new car up 1, relatively new preown car up 0.7 and a 7 yrs old car up 0.2. This is just an estimate, no fix formula.

Actually was looking at the COE cars... almost all are are selling at a price higher than what they pay for the COE plus PARF value when renewing the COE.

How to "calculate" whether the COE car are worth the price seller are asking?

Question now is did you buy a car with 'Guaranteed Coe"?, If so, normally there is no top up or no rebate. . Unless it is otherwise stated.

If you purchase a car without a 'Guaranteed COE' and the AD is 'guaranteeing' that they will secure a COE for you this round, then there should be a rebate level which should hv been made known to you when u sign the contract.

You can only caculate the value of the COE. As for the instrinsic value i.e. the car body, there is no way to caculate its actual value. If you dont like the car, it is just scarp metal, maybe $500. If you like it, it is like antique, up to you to pay. Sorry, sounding so philosophical.
