Watwheels Supersonic May 30, 2014 Share May 30, 2014 (edited) Can't take humour huh, you?! You know why they did what they did during ww2? Precisely because they put their society above self and willing to do anything to protect their fellow countryman. They are very meticulous and most if not all will strife to do their best in their work. If a product is meant for their domestic consumption, you can be sure it will be a top notch product and nothing less. I am sure you are aware of this. That is why I never even bother to look at the safety records of Biante when I first cast my eyes on it, unlike when I was looking at Carens before. It is like toyota or honda fan, never need to do test drive can just buy and won't regret. I just read that JNCAP revamped its test procedure in 2009 to add in new things like side curtain airbag, rear dummy for offset frontal test, etc.Too bad Biante was not tested using the new procedures in 2009, but it did produced one of the best results under the previous standards. Bear in mind cars like current Estima/Previa and last gen Odyssey were done using those standards. Do take a look at the readings in details if you are concern, and you will see that it shine in certain areas. Else just strike it off your shopping list. Not comfortable about it, better not buy. Cheers. Humour? Oh I have seen better. Whatever you just mentioned still doesn't change the fact it has only 2 airbags and no curtain airbags. What I wanted to point out is the safety concern and not about buying anything. Becoz it's a people carrier it's unimaginable to have only front collision airbags for the front driver & passenger. It doesn't change my opinion on this car's safety and the way it's designed. If ppl I know wants to consider this car I will suggest they look at it again. If it's another MPV make also with 2 airbags I will tell them the same. I have nothing against owners or buyers of this car. It's you who jumped into defensive mode which I think is uncalled for. Actually I thought I was just giving my opinion on the airbag issue, never knew would come across as being defensive. Just that before I make any purchase I would spend considerable effort to make sure it is worth it thus my passion shows. OK I apologise if that is the case as I never meant to be aggressive. Anyway, I am not trying to justify my purchase as I am enjoying my car very very much as it is. I have only been trying to help people to get past the airbag issue but obviously I failed terribly. Cheers.

It's just my opinion you dun have to throw funny words at me with the "promise" or "humour" thing. You do give me the feeling you are trying to justify your purchase. LoL... But these are just my personal opinions I hope you do not take it at heart. I do not beat around the bush. Many ppl do not like it especially it's things they do not like to hear. Cheers. Karu 6th Gear May 30, 2014 Share May 30, 2014 Tested Biante yesterday... Drive was quite good for the size of the car. 6 speed gearbox is responsive enuff... Negative points... White interior will be grey in not time. HU is very offensive in the otherwise pleasing dash. Agree that the 2 airbags are not very comforting. Then again, air bags are like insurance, it's something u want to have but hope not to use. So kinda subjective to many. Also quite surprise that Mazda 8 is only about 8K more at ~ $156K. KKTAN 2nd Gear May 30, 2014 Share May 30, 2014 The latest issue of Torque magazine carries a comparison between 3 sumo limo mpvs, wonder why the bante is not one of those included since it is considered so spacious by some. Hmmm.

Karu 6th Gear May 30, 2014 Share May 30, 2014 Guess the 'spaciousness' may be 'enhanced' by the high roof here... So whether it's spacious when your try to seat 8 adults into the car remains to be seen. Maybe Heartlander care to comment on this...

So whether it's spacious when your try to seat 8 adults into the car remains to be seen. Maybe Heartlander care to comment on this... I actually don't want to comment further as don't want to be seen as pushing the car, or being accused of thinking it is the best since I had bought it. Anyway, Biante, similar to other mini-van like Serena Noah Stepwgn Voxy, has about 2.9m to 3m length of interior space, which is similar to all the full-size mpv like Estima Odyssey Alphard Elgrand which are also classified under mini-van in japan. Couple with 2 rows of seats which can move along tracks along the length, it provides great flexibility for passengers in terms of seat arrangement. It has nothing to do with high-roof though it makes the cabin airy but need taller roof. Some other smaller mini-van which we termed mid-size mpvs are Mazda5 Touran Orlando Zafira Stream Wish which offers about 2.6m of cabin length. Mazda 8 is "unique" because it is of full-size mpv length yet only mid-size mpv cabin space. Any car with internal cabin length of 3m sure can seat 8 people comfortably. If high roof, then moving around the cabin would be easier and more dignified, especially for ladies.

Heartlander Turbocharged May 31, 2014 Share May 31, 2014 Thanks all for your feedback. Think my early years' involvement with japan has paid off alittle as i could pore over jap websites for info which are glaringly lacking in english equivalent. That is how the japanese people look after themselves. To me, biante noah voxy serena stepwgn are about the same thing, any of them would be good to enhance your lifestyle without burning a hole like elgrand odyssey estima which of course are a grade higher in quality but not in space and functionality, much like prestige. My 1st choice has been serena but too bad not carried by AD. Biante is a excellent alternative as it looks markedly different from all others, and mazda cars also quite reliable from feedback. Really no regret though would be equally happy with any of the above if available through AD. In fact, success of biante might spur other ADs to bring in similar models from the minivan category, who knows? Those who can wait could benefit if it happens. My apologies things could get alittle rough but that is only to be expected in an open forum with different opinions. Definitely not my intention to offend anyone. Let us continue to share the lobang and freebies and knowledge as we grow, not necessarily with biante only though. Cheers.

Even my 2006 car have 6 airbags and ESP. ↡ Advertisement
