during vote counting for say Ballot Box No. 12345, they will write on the white board, how many X no. of PAP & X no. of opp.

After counting, all ballot papers put back into the ballot box No. 12345, sealed and signed.

Say this Ballot Box No.12345 is from Blk 1 to 10 of, say Toa Payoh.

They will only know the % of Blk 1 to 10 who are voting for and against PAP.

So, come next election, they will change the boundary base on the % gathered from Blk 1 to 10, FTW.

They don't change the person life who vote against PAP.

Hello brothers and sisters,

Do you think the voting in Singapore is really secret and unanimous?

Think again.

I remember back in 2006?

We register at the desk with our NRIC and they compare with their serial numbered list of name/voter.

They tear a piece of voting paper with serial number to you, similar to the older cheque book.

They will then write your serial number from the name/voter list on the remained stub of this voting paper.

This is how they know who vote who.

So, is voting in Singapore really secret and unanimous?

Pretty easy to know who is behind all this.

So where is the fairness?

Never has been and never was.

Don't be paranoid, you need to think carefully.

Last time PAP got 66% of all votes. Assume 2 million total voter.

So over 600K people voted against the PAP.

Just think about the logistics if they need to track all these people down?

To track these 600K to 700K people down they need to go through 2 million votes, MANUALLY, cos the votes are hand written.

Ok 1) Tan Ah Kow, Ic number : xxx aged 45, address: xxx, voted for opp... So on so forh. Repeat 2 million times.

Siong right?

They need to set up a ministry just to do this.

You think they really so free?

Its secret cos no one has the time/manpower to track down your one vote.

Next, assuming your vote is traced so something can be done to reeducate you.

Almost 700K people.

Imagine a meeting room with a bunch of guys executing the re-education.

Boss: "ok, who do we have here today"

Underling: "Tan Ah Kow, Ic number : xxx aged 45, address: xxx."

Boss: "any more details?"

Underling:"he works as a table cleaner, and drives a bmw, pays for everything in cash"

Boss:" ok, so this case how? how are going to 'convince' him"

Underling: " i have a suggestion. Blah blah etc. "

Boss: "ok go and execute, Next!"

Have you realised just how impossible this task is????? You have to repeat for 700K people!!!

Just wanted to illustrate why i think your vote is secret.

if the % is most located in the center of the GRC, then dig out a SMC in the middle for next election?

no need lar, for the next election, that area will be zero local S'porean, total Fallout, why? because all the FT/FW will be renting/ or buying up the whole area.

don chiu forget the 1 million FT/FW target for next five years, meaning everyday approve ~547 FT/FW, not counting their spouse, parents and offspring.

GDP GROWTH AT ALL COST!

scary.

If they never trace then how come they keep changing the boundaries?

Because, for a cluster of 20-30 blocks of residence, they will go to this particular polling station. By looking the results from that particular cluster, they know how good is the support for each party..

Hi brother.. to confirm that your vote is secret, why don't you volunteer to be a counting agent?

Counting Agents

1. Counting Agents will be in the Counting Centres on the night of Polling Day to ensure that the election officials count the ballot papers according to the rules.

2. The NSP candidates and counting agents will be there with you.

3. You will be the rare ones allowed to witness the opening of the ballot boxes, the physical counting of the votes, and the sealing of the ballot papers in the boxes after counting!

4. Being a Counting Agent is the best way to see for yourself that your vote is secret!

Commitment: Starts from 2000h on the night of Polling Day till late. We will organise a briefing session for you before Polling Day.

You can volunteer for any party. Just go to their website.

your vote is secret, the serial numbers are just to verify that you have shown up and voted.

if you do not show up and vote, you will be exempted from voting ever.

tracking? nah my friend is in civil service and votes opposition every chance he gets, yet he still enjoy his bonus and promotions too.

then again is being marked soooooooooooo scary?

if you got ability, why are you scare of being marked?

Bro/sis, just vote from your heart. Voting is your right and there is nothing to be afraid of and you have no obligation to any party.

I'm sure the 33% who voted for OP in 2006 are still kicking around (unless handover their IC liao [:p] )

The urban legend of votes kanna traced must be started during the old man's iron fist era by some kia-si ppl... [pirate]

I say so many times leow.. serial number is there to prevent fraud. USA, Australia and UK are other countries which have serial numbers on the voting slip too.

p/s: We inherited this system from the Brits
