Accident along Mandai Road

Sorry to hijack this thread.

Last night outside BestWay Building (Prince Edward Road area). While waiting to drive out of carpark to join main road, out of no where a bloody PRC construction worker cycling against the traffic lost control of his bicycle and crash onto the front of my vehicle. Bicycle had no front or back lights. No bell or what sh.it.

He simply looked at my vehicle and cycled off against the traffic. It happened so quickly I got no time to react.

By the time I got off to check he was already too far away.

Left so many deep scratches on the air dam.

Sh*it to those farking PRC cyclists. Last night he got away scot free. Meet a reckless and revengeful driver next time and he may never be able to walk or work ever again.

It's about time the LTA enforce the rules and bring back licensing and highway code test for ALL cyclist who insist on using main roads for rides.

I won't retaliate but if LTA continues to ignore the matter, other motorist will one day take the matter and law into their own hands and mete out punishment for these reckless riders.

I was driving down Mandai rd along the crematorium at 11.30pm with my girl when at the last bend towards Thomson road I came face to face with a man, most probably a PRC riding a bicycle towards me. It was a sharp bend and I was only 10m away from hitting him. I swerve to my right, across the other direction road, smashed straight into the kerb and whole car flew down to the grass patch below, missing a tree and 2 fences by mere half a metre only. My both front wheels was banged inwards and the undercarriage in a mess. I quickly jumped out and look for that cyclist but he's gone. A few cyclists came over and ask if I'm alright, as I had my roof opened and luckily didn't fly out! Total damage close to $2K. Funny thing is.... My girl said she didn't see any cyclist or person when I suddenly jammed brake and swerve my car. Hmm.. So please be careful guys nowadays too many cyclists on the road and expect someone to be there at a sharp bend if not you'll get into an accident! Peace!

better go back to the same place tonight at 12mn to burn some offerings.

But i must say $2k is very cheap since your car literally crash all over the place and down the grass patch. wow

Many thanks for sharing with us. I am puzzled that you noticed the cyclist only went he was about 10 metres away? You served to avoid the cyclist, but did not encountered served to return back to your own lane?

I read this line many times before I get what he is trying to post.... "you SWERVED to avoid the cyclist, but did not COUNTER SWERVE to return back to your own lane." More or less I think that was what was meant. Kudos to TS for understanding the first time round...

I'm sorry to hear your loss man..

I saw a white horse while driving there one time..... another Starlet driver flew down a ditch at Old Mandai road driving at 50km/h..... car just flew... no one knew why...

Lots of unexplained situations here, but thankfully you and your Gf are not hurt!

Dave?? Huh you saw a white horse literally???

maybe the car made of paper.

2K convert to hell notes is worth trillions of dollars, TS should have bought a new paper car instead.

Yes I don't have any accidents before. And Copen stability is good I could have easily swerve back if situation deem right. Thus it's not just the skill. Situation deem inappropriate to do so. And have prevented alot of major accidents, mostly is the other parties mistakes haa!

That bend nearer to Upper Thomson Road, not the other end. Could be distracted by gf? I cycled there this morning: should be able to see about 25 to 50 metres ahead at the bend. Wonder what happened.

Hmm... any chance/idea if your car had exceeded the speed limt for that road as you came downhill? I speculate breaching the road adhersion threshold of the car among the reasons. Example if exceeded 70km/h, the car can float out of control across the road, irregardless of you struggling with the brake pedal/steering wheel (many/most Japanese cars are designed for good braking distances, but not road adhersion). You may be aware some of them crashed into lampposts/trees and broke into two. I suggest trade-in for safer model.
