Thanks for the update I should go back to my dealer I just checked thereâs no spare tyre

I collected my Prius+ just a week ago. It does indeed come with a spare tyre. Bought mine from AD Borneo Motors. I specially asked about this during my test drive because many hybrids do not come with spare tyre due to the battery being in the back of the car under the boot.

Did you check the boot properly? the spare tyre is under a foam tray in the boot.

Good to know more Prius+/Alpha drivers and also good to hear that the car is "Great" after 6 months. Today I met my taxi driver friend and he also commented that Prius is indeed, the choice of the profession.  He average FC is 22 Km/L and that alone already saved him lots of petrol dollars other then the reliability.

Attached are photos of the space saver tyre for your reference, I took the pics when I took it out to soundproof the bare metal space a little.

Cruise control is good when driving open highways. It is actually more economical in FC. without adaptive CC, we can adapt ourselves ny disengaging the CC to slow down and slowly picking up speed using our foot then turning on again by setting the cruise speed. It will work out better than adaptive CC actually. CC is definitely a leg saver and I use it a lot on long drives. It saved my leg on two of my 5600km drives across China.

5600km drives across China!

How you get the temporary driving license and safely covered such a distance is amazing! Can we know what car you were driving? Owned or rent?

I have a driving license in China for many years already. My current license will run out in 6 more years. Any foreigner with a stay permit of minimum 6 months can apply for driving license. For us holders of driving license(s) from overseas, we just need to pass the highway code exam. 1st license validity will be 6 years, 1st renewal will be 10 years, 2nd renewal will be lifetime.

I drove the Chevrolet Captiva All wheel drive 7-seater SUV. From Zhejiang province all the way to the tip of Jilin province at the North Korean border. 2800km 3.5 days drive each way. I like to go safe and check into hotel and rest after dinner, so I only drive from 6am till 6pm daily. Yes, it is my car, I still own it till now. AWD is really stable in the snowy roads, because both times I went, it was in winter around -15 to -25 deg C. Saw a lot of accidents on the way, especially when the temperature suddenly drops and melted snow on the road start to ice up (see last pic).  Lots of beautiful scenes along the long drive, from Great Wall to oil fields to wind power generators.

If you read Chinese, this is the full text of the temporary driving permit. It can b done at traffic police hq of any major city. https://www.baidu.com/sf_edu_wenku/view/4194a4047f21af45b307e87101f69e314232fa11

translation usually needs to be endorsed by a china authorised translation service. In sg, that will be the counters of the PRC embassy. In China, you can use translation services registered with chinede govt. btw depending on the location you get the permit done, best to have your passport info page translated as well.

6500 Km journey with Prius+ and the feeling is getting better by the day.

  • FC has been varying but consistent between 18 - 20 KM/L.  No particular driving techniques to apply but just be yourself, unhurried, relax and considerate - Don't road hog.
  • Like the EV drives around low speed areas. Around towns, inching in traffic jams and silent moves in parking lots.
  • Visited petrol station less frequent, felt less pains with ever rising petrol cost.

A Prius is easier to maintain than all my past ego where cars have to be huge, road presence, powerful and fastest if possible.  Prius+ to me is less of a car but sensible private transportation.

Wish to check with all Prius' drivers.

Does your ride maintain the battery charge overnight?  I used to EV home and left about 5-6 bar of charge and next morning, sometime the charge was there unchanged but some other days, I found it dropped 2-3 bars overnight.  All gadgets include monitoring cams were off overnight.

Thanks advance for sharing.

For mine, it also drops to much lesser (around 2-3 bars) than when I left the car overnight. Like yours, I do not have any gadgets running at least to my knowledge.
