Mecontle 1st Gear May 23, 2011 Share May 23, 2011 http://www.tnp.sg/content/drama-pie The driver of the car, Miss Zac M Noh, 55, was lying on the grass as her back hurt. But she went back to get her dog, leashed to a head-rest, just before the car exploded in a huge fireball. no ,more budget toyota ever, very important is get a car with ESP cut accident by 50% http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_stability_control

Ithunk 1st Gear May 23, 2011 Share May 23, 2011 man i wonder how the drivers of the blue car and the grey car next to the explosion will feel man...they must be driving for their lives lol drive safe
Beehive3783 Twincharged May 23, 2011 Share May 23, 2011 (edited) Why do I have a funny feeling that it could actually be the driver's problem instead of the car? Number one possibility : Dog distracting the driver, driver loses control due to the dog's distraction and fails to recover, ends up flipping the car like roti prataman Edited May 23, 2011 by Beehive3783
GoodCar 4th Gear May 23, 2011 Share May 23, 2011 To add on, Even if she is driving within expressway speed limit, at this speed, an abrupt input to the steering wheel can "swing" the car out of control. Drive safely

Torquemonster 1st Gear May 23, 2011 Share May 23, 2011 Anyone saw the news on newpaper today regarding a brake failure and steering failure in toyota vios. Causing the vios to hit a barrier and burst into flame. Apparently the airbag failed to deploy after crash too. I read the newpaper today, i don't think its because of brake failure cause the newpaper wrote some poly students saw her jammed brake before the crash. How could she have jammed brake if the brakes failed?

Drive safely Interesting read about the suspension on the vios from another website. Actually it's the not the steering system or the brake system that's the issue. The problem lies in the inherent characteristics of torsion beam suspension system that loads up the front end of the car during hard braking. Torsion beam suspension (featured in most entry level cars to save cost and space - including the Toyota Vios) provides a simple, laterally strong solution to rear suspension systems of budget and compact cars. The downside is that this simple suspension configuration tends to exaggerate load transfer to the front end during hard braking making the rear end very light and prone to loosing traction(I think this is what caused the vios to have drifted after the driver jammed brake). In the hands of a novice driver, this can be dangerous.
Coupecabriolet Clutched May 23, 2011 Share May 23, 2011 the jam was really bad and stretched for very long distances when i was on the opposite direction. next time if you happen to have an accident, and you happen to drive a toyota, just blame the brakes or unintended acceleration!! Drive safely I ever had to swerve right and left sharply to avoid road debris on the AYE near Lower Delta exit, and was driving about 80-90, could hear the tyres screeching but surprisingly the car followed steering input. MrolexB 1st Gear May 23, 2011 Share May 23, 2011 (edited) Hi, I need a captain seat (second row) toyota new alphard, can I help for information..regards People talking about red plate vios crashed along PIE, burst into flame, lady driver and hotdog survived. You asking for info on alphard? Are you suggesting the driver of this Vios to consider an Alphard for her next ride? Weewee1976 3rd Gear May 24, 2011 Share May 24, 2011 you mean toyota vios uses torsion beam suspension for the front?? According to specs here, only the rear is torsion beam: http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_...amp;Subcode=
Itsec 2nd Gear May 24, 2011 Share May 24, 2011 there are so many models using torsion beam suspension.. i personally felt this is not an issue or contribute to the cause of the accident. honda will be stupid to use torsion beam suspension on their fn2r... i saw an accident, happen right infront of my eye where an altis (new model) also swerve and hit the barrier (filter lane @ toh guan exit from PIE) i was 2 cars behind her...the car just swerved and hit the barrier.... all i can say the road was wet...the scenario similar to the one happen on vios... i stopped my car and helped her...dmg wasnt as bad as the vio... she was calm and mentioned she do not know why the steering wheel turn as if the front tire lose grip.. the speed she travel was rather slow.. probably less than 50km/hr... strange though... ↡ Advertisement
