NS Hwy R&R

Many bros & sis already had road trip in one leg to Penang. Just wondering, how many stops normally you did? And what are those R&R stops you patronized?

Just curious and want to find out which are the most frequent stops really necessary. Thanks! [:)]

hi Bro,

Conservatively, between SIN and KL (outskirt), you may want to take a break just outside Melaka at a sizeable R&R which has fastfood on a 'bridge' that links the two sides of the highway, the 'bridge' houses shops and makan places..... it's at about the 200km mark (refering to the distance markers along the highway, sometimes at the 'road side', sometimes at the central divider).

once you are at the outskirt of KL, say if you take E6 then shah alam etc and join E1 to go towards Ipoh/Penang direction, there are big and small R&R along the way for a break before continuing your journey all the way to Penang.

All in, 2 stops between SIN and Penang.

From E6 to E1 there's also an R&R very similar to Ayer Keroh KFC/A&W bridge. I think it's the same operator. I would do 1-2 stops, after Ayer Keroh and after K.L. well depends on what time you clear immigration, and how many kids you have in the car.

LOL.... non stop from SIN to Penang is quite incredible, even if the car can take it, our bladder may not last so long... it's a good 7-6 hours drive. :D

Food at the R&Rs have improved but still sucks by any standard, other than the A&W at Ayer Keroh. Alternatively, you might want to consider exiting the NSHW and places where the town is nearby and have some decent food i.e Yong Peng, Tapah, Ipoh.

The thing about breaks on a long drive is that you don't really think about it. Take as many as you want. It is a holiday, not a record breaking drive.

I take 4 stops.

1. Pagoh

2. Dengkil (near KLIA, they've got a great Kajang satay stall but this intel is 2 years old)

and 2 others further north which I can remember.

As a general rule I take a break every 2 hours. Like another poster said, it's a vacation. So ... relax and don't rush.

Thanks bro. Probably 3-4 stops okay. Don't wanna stop too often, it's like IPPT test, once you stop on a 2.4km test, you dont feel like going and you likely fail the test. LOL IMHO. [rolleyes]

So your average speed is? And how many hours you take to reach there?

The total distance is about 700+km. For a 6 hr and below run, the mathematical average speed is around 120km/h. But in reality, you'll have to push towards 200km/h whenever possible and try sustained cruises of 180km/h to make up for the stops and hold-ups. It can be done if the traffic condition is relatively light and dry road. I just did the trip from Penang to sgp in 6hrs including stops and a 45min lunch.

it's a remap fiat doblo 1.9 jtd.

150bhp 250nm torque. stock 105bhp 200nm torque.

average ard 160km/h, the road was really empty, and push when ever the is empty space in front,, ( max abt 200km /h only) but mostly doing ard 170-180 cos need a bit of distance to slowly hit 200km/h

speed it does not have, but it does have stamina ...

good thing it comes with a 60 liter fuel tank, and running on diesel, even maxed out, it does abt 10 km/h

if do ard 130-150 constantly, think it can do 900km easily... if 100-120 think 1000km should not be a problem

penang in a tank,, phuket in 2 tank of diesel.
