Hey bros. just gathering info for my knowledge just in case i need in the future.

 

What are the proceedings in filing an insurance 3rd party claim?

 

lets say e.g i get rear ended by another car on the expressway. what am i supposed to do from there?

 

sorry for the lousy question uh. i'm still new to cars and i'm trying to learn

Your insurer should give you a handbook with instructions.

 

When accident happen, remember to

 

1) Take particulars of other party, or at least try to capture the license plate if they dont cooperate

2) Take photo of the damage of all vehicles involved. Dont move your car even if people are honking you. Take photos first!

3) Try to grab hold of a witness, contact number etc

 

If car still can drive, then drive to your insurer's authorised reporting centre to report within 24 hours. They will guide you from there. If cannot drive, call your insurer to tow it. Dont let anyone else tow it... unless you are in the NSHW, then you have to use the PLUS tow service.

 

If there is pedestrian involved, injury, government vehicle, property damage, other party hit and run, you should make a police report too.

 

In the ideal case, both parties report the same story, claims move fast. If one or more party cook up fairy tales, then things get tricky. You must always protect yourself from potential fairy tales, no matter how nice or how apologetic the other party was at the accident site. Once lawyers are involved, all sorts of lies can be conjured.

take pictues..

 

go to ur insurer and fill up the forms, submit photos.. and wait.
