Range Rover Evoque

14L/100 km is 7 plus km per litre, which looks ok. I guess you can change the l/100 km units to km/l in the display. Please check.

Hi Hi,

Got my evoque 2 weeks ago. 2 yr old with 8 mths warranty left. I enjoy my long drives to work now. LOL.

One thing bugging me is the FC. It shows my driving style is 14L/100km. But full tank barely clocks 450km. That just don't add up.

Anything i am missing here?

My FC is around the same. But the system shows i am avg 13 to 14L/100km. LOL!. Baffled man.

Recently bought an evoque. Is there an active singapore evoque forum or watsapp group?

I was wondering the same. But compared to other SUV, Evoque does not have that many owners i guess.

I feel Velar much better.

Frankly, Range Rover is an over priced car. After comparing the fit and finishing of the car with a GLC, Evoque is not worth the price (brand new).

That said, i sat in the velar, teat drove the 2.0 model. Extremely underpowered.so best choice would be the 3L model. But thats in a different price league. And it only looks good in the 20" wheels pqckage. The base model looks wierd.

Not that I know of, but you can try UK base forum like babyrr for more info on your ride.

Hi @jellyfish and fellow Evoquies,

Since you guys are the veteran here, can i pick your brain on which is a better buy if you are to buy one and why? And any good workshop you will recommend to do a precheck before any purchase? Am just thinking if it is worth paying $2k/yr more deprec for a lower mileage car or save that money upfront for the much higher mileage car, hoping that cars like this are built to last thousands of miles....all advises appreciated :)

Sorry for the late reply, as seldom log in nowadays, evoques are generally tough in its bodywork, but do scout around using what I have listed as a guide to prevent yourself from buying a lemon, I`ve seen evoques with multiple issues all kinda link to each other, and in the end its better to stay away from them.

Ive seen ride with a clogged up fuel filter till the fuel pump jammed up, turbo also wear out, coolant pipe burst, brake booster pump leaking oil from bad seal, and a weeping radiator and noisy aircon compressor. worst nightmare come true.

Servicing for evoques is not expensive, you have to factor in the oil change interval is not at 10k km but agent recommend 24k oil change, but after testing out my engine oil sample, I would say the best oil change interval is at 18k for me.

I would say parts is definitely expensive if you go via agent, but if you know where to look, parts is rather competitive in pricing compared to other euro makes, I`ve driven my ride for 270k thus far, gearbox is never a concern, I have only changed out my torque converter at 250k.

I say it depends on how well you keep to the maintenance schedule, and as a driver how you determine what need to change or have a look at, part of my disappointment with wearnes is due to their lack of quality technician who  listen and work with pride, most are like robots, car come in change oil release car back to owner, if any problem arises, they will just say the golden reply "its normal one".

Thus I brought my car to someone who listens to my concern and repair, maintain and check my car properly, and the workshop knows the seriousness of bringing a car to far fling places like Laos and Cambodia, as there is no one to help you and basically you are on your own there.

Find such work shop and stick to the mechanic who can help make your dream come true, and also it does help if the driver have some mechanical knowledge of the vehicle also, I`ve always admire driver who spend their weekend taking care of their car by personally checking their rides at the MSCP, some even change their own engine oil or brake pads.

I've a 2012 evoque. I get about 450km before the low fuel light comes on; its about 8km per litre.

The consumption on your evoque is pretty impressive.

A gentle right foot and gentle acceleration, coupled with some highway driving, I do not see why owner cannot hit that figure, I stay in the west side, and drives to either the east or north daily.

But when traffic jams, or getting into cut and thrust traffic, you will see that fuel figure drop like bird dropping.

2016 9speed

I`ve never driven a 9 speeder before, but to what I know, they should return better FC, but in the internet, there is a lot of flaming with regards to the 9 speed, anything from over sensitive throttle input causing the gearbox to drop 2 -3 gears down and accelerate violently, or holding on to low gear for too long.

But its all down to programming, and owner who have the vehicle reprogrammed by the agent has since quieten down and never heard from them again, guess its either they have cured the issue or sold the car, lol

FC depends on individual driving style. Light footer can get much better FC than heavy footer.

Wear and tear are normal so I presume that the car is pretty reliable. How about rattling? I used to have cars that rattled badly. It was a turn off for me.

Yes my ride does rattle when I just got it, numerous trips to agent came back still same, finally I got enough of it and started to trouble shoot it myself.

I`ve found the following top rattler,

1) Front passenger seat belt height adjustment area, sticked a piece of felt foam tape on the area, Done!!

2) Passenger door trip in the front, part where the leather meets the plastic trim, keeps rubbing and making squeeky sound, folded a piece of parking coupon and jammed it into the gap, till now no sound.

3) Dry door seal on all doors, and made a rubber rubbing sound when car is going over off road condition or going up MSCP where the whole chassis is being twisted, Sprayed dry silicone lube on the seal, Done!

Till date all I can hear is my wife nagging in the car, seem like it better to listen to the squeeks and rattles sometime. lol

My brother has one.

His wife wanted him to buy one for her so she could impress the son's girlfriend who was from rich family.

But the wife doesn't like driving it so uses my brother's small audi and he has to drive Evoque.

Now the son is getting married and will live in the US and my brother's wife is going apeshiite and I mean really apeshiite about it because she'll seldom see the son.

All because of the Evoque

I've sat in the passenger seat for a shortish ride and found the suspension so hard as to be uncomfortable.

Just my thoughts.

Lol.

Thats a truly funny car story.

Anyway my colleague has one and in the first year of ownership frequently spent his lunchtimes at the car workshop.

@Jellyfish.

Thanks for the share. But could you take it one step further by sharing where or how you go about purchasing the parts and which workshop you go to.

Reason being, i had an experience with Wearnes where my battery was gonna expire soon so was advices to change. They quoted me about 1.4k for a new battery. I was flabbergasted. After some "shouting", they brought it down to abt 900. But, a battery cost so much? Eventually the advisor told RR battery change is complex and only they are equipped go handle it. Apparently when you change battery, the cars cpu memory has to be backed up before and reloaded after the change. Which means we can only go Wearnes for such services. Hope you can shed some light on this. Cheers.

And i do agree, the servicing interval is THE highest amongst cars in SG. But it can be an issue when it comes to topic such as what i highlighted above. Too late to check on some parts which might be in bad state by the time we get to next servicing schedule.

That's total BS you got served by wearnes, for $1400 bux, I can buy both the aux battery and main battery 5-7times over, our car is not rocket science and is meant to be serviced simply everywhere by mechanic who know their spanner from their screwdriver, heck even I can do it myself, but that main battery is heck heavy thus I rather let other ppl do it.

When you change your battery out, it just reset your trip counter, no biggie, if you connect a small battery to the car then it will not lose memory. all that CPU/ECU BS is why I bring my services elsewhere, Prefer not to be served a whole bowl of BS and being treated like a carrot and be chopped by them.

Truth be said, they have a few serviced which is proprietary to them, but battery change is not one of those services.

There is a few items inside the service interval which is not being listed out when they service your car, as it is listed as wear then change.

Keep a look out for the following.

1) Gearbox oil change, (Wearnes say they last 20yrs) lol

2) Water Pump (They will go at 100 to 150k)

3) Rear brake pads (They get eaten faster than the front pads)

4) Engine mounting (Ard 150k) there is 4 mounting to change out

5) Radiator and hoses (180k)

6) Drive shaft and propshaft (180k will start to die depend on where you go with your car)

7) Aux battery 2-3yrs

8) Main battery 2yrs

9) Steering rack (7yrs or 250k)

10) A arms (150k)

11) Front and rear diff oil (100k)

12) Air con compressor and condenser the whole nine yards (5yrs or 200k)

13) Blow off valve (200k)

14) Patrol Fuel filter (250k)

15) Damper (Magnaride damper 2yrs) Stock damper 4 yrs before they leak oil

16) Gearbox recon/overhaul (300k)

17) Recommended oil change at wearnes which indicate 24k is too long, after testing out my engine oil, its best to change oil at 18k with good safety margin

18) Harmonic damper (100k)

19) Engine oil seal (200k)

20) Torque converter (250k)

21) Engine plastic vacuum hose turn brittle at 200k mark (Don't meddle with them unless necessary of else they break off with little effort)

22) Sparkies (120k)

23) Coil pack (250k)

24) Aircon filter every 2 oil change

25) Engine air filter every 2 oil change (I use K&N Just wash and reoil)

26) Door locks will start to make funny noise after 5yr mark

27) O2 Sensor bank A and B ard 4yrs mark

28) Exhaust rubber hanger 150-200k (Depends on where you go with your ride)

29) Interior headliner will sag at ard 200k mark

30) Headlight blub will blow at ard 180k mark

PM me if you wanna know more abt your ride.
