Gnahp Twincharged July 24, 2011 Share July 24, 2011 I have tried using those sub $100 ultrasonic cleaner to clean the carburettor jets, it seems not powerful enough to lift those stubborn varnish. Any lobang for a more powerful unit with a bigger tub?
Yeobh 4th Gear July 24, 2011 Author Share July 24, 2011 In the market there are ton of cheap units and copies. You got to get hold of units designed mainly for workshop use and preferably with heater.
5936 1st Gear July 24, 2011 Share July 24, 2011 I also use the less than $100 Ultrasonic cleaner. Put in only dirty keys and they cant even remove the dirt. Put it through a few cycles-- still dirty add dishwashing liquid -- still dirty add in detergent-- still dirty add in detergent + hot water -- still dirty. addd in detergent + clorox -- still dirty. Yeobh 4th Gear July 24, 2011 Author Share July 24, 2011 The level of ultrasonic frequency must be very low. Frankly cleaning with distilled water will be sufficient as the ultrasonic frequency generate bubbles which break loss the dirt when the bubbles burst - its like cavitation effect. Gnahp Twincharged July 24, 2011 Share July 24, 2011 Those industrial ultrasonic cleaners are a bit overkill for a DIYer like me, I would like to have one but it will be at the bottom of my wish list unless I can convince my wife the ultrasonic cleaner also can do dishwashing. Kangadrool Supersonic July 24, 2011 Share July 24, 2011 If you put watches in, will the vibrations/agitations cause those mechanical parts to loosen also?
Yeobh 4th Gear July 24, 2011 Author Share July 24, 2011 (edited) Very high frequency at ultrasonic level not vibrations. I believe Panasonic has already have such type of washing machine selling in Japan. Edited July 24, 2011 by Yeobh
Gnahp Twincharged July 24, 2011 Share July 24, 2011 I looking at this new product , in probably a month or two I will get hold of one unit to do cleaning test run on various type of components. This looks much better than the home appliances grade cleaner that I used. What are the dimensions of the tub?

Satria_neo Clutched July 25, 2011 Share July 25, 2011 I am curious, is it really necessary to use an ultrasonic cleaner? What I did is to use a brush and some carb cleaner spray to clean it.
Gnahp Twincharged July 25, 2011 Share July 25, 2011 Ultrasonic cleaning is relatively more effective than a brush and solvent.
5936 1st Gear July 25, 2011 Share July 25, 2011 I think those domestic type is too lame or being cheated.
Yeobh 4th Gear July 25, 2011 Author Share July 25, 2011 (edited) It depend on the level of cleanliness you want. If you overhauls your carb and you only do manual cleaning chances you have miss many enclosed drillings/opening that is not acessible via brushes. Many mech are not even using proper brushes/ tools let alone using ultrasonic cleaner. Edited July 25, 2011 by Yeobh
Satria_neo Clutched July 25, 2011 Share July 25, 2011 Ultrasonic cleaning is relatively more effective than a brush and solvent. I agreed its definitely more effective esp. for larger pieces of equipment like carb. ↡ Advertisement
