The_Bear Turbocharged January 3, 2012 Share January 3, 2012 This is getting out of hand, why is there "for a safety reason"? Nah, he was relating to amusement park's rides. which is totally not related. Btw, how old do kids get their ID card nowadays? Or do you have any way to verfiy the age other than the BC (Which is not much use as there is no photo, got also no use because all babies look alike)

Happily1986 5th Gear January 3, 2012 Share January 3, 2012 I think height is a fairer and easier way to classify from the restaurant's point of view. A 1.4 meter 6 year old will most likey eat more than a 1.2 meter 7 year old. Also it is easier to verify height and most parents don't bring along identification papers for their kids to verify the age. Do you? why not basal metabolism or BMI? Aaron_soh80 1st Gear January 3, 2012 Share January 3, 2012 Was at one of the restaurant eating buffet yesterday. Kids will be charged if they are more than 1m height, they are subjected to pay for kids rate. My son is only 3 yo and was asked to pay. I felt unfair as how much a 3yo boy can eat? My wife and I are tall and logically, my kids will have our gene as well. I reason with the waitress and she said it is their in-house rules. Well, not being sarcastic, does it mean that midget will eat for free? Shouldn't rule be changed due to the food and sport the kids eat and play nowaday? Not only did I come across restaurant that goes by height, same it goes to public swimming pool, MRT, cinema etc. Is being tall having the disadvantages? What is the advantage then? Ur kid go inside got eat & drink rite ? den pay la..
Fondue Neutral Newbie January 3, 2012 Share January 3, 2012 Heigth makes sense cos would you want to lug along Birth Certs/ Original docs to prove your kids age ?? If not, how to tell the real age ??
KARTer 2nd Gear January 3, 2012 Share January 3, 2012 why not basal metabolism or BMI? The height of a person gives a fair indication of the size of his stomach/intestines.... but to be more precise: measure the waist, its a more accurate way to tell how much food can go inside there.... To be even more precise: take the weight of the dinner before and after he makans..... and charge him according to how much weight he gains after the meal
KARTer 2nd Gear January 3, 2012 Share January 3, 2012 This is getting out of hand, why is there "for a safety reason"? short kids can reach all the buffet food spread on the table..... so they must be charged less?
KARTer 2nd Gear January 3, 2012 Share January 3, 2012 You are right to say that the restaurant will have to let midgets less than 1m height to eat for free. But then again, how many such midgets are there that can take advantage of this rule?? The restaurant will just tell you okay, if they want to be sarcastic. To improve graciousness / caring-spirit in our society, Free makan (or give a big discount) for physically challenged people.... there arent too many of them and they already 'lost out' in many things in life, give them a chance
KARTer 2nd Gear January 3, 2012 Share January 3, 2012 Why is age a fairer way for classification in regards to buffet? The reason for charging more is due to the child having a bigger appetite. Wait one day buffet restaurants get smart and serve you the second drink with tasteless 'di-appetiser powder' in it.... you eating will slow down after that drink... I know some fastfood contains 'appetiser' to make the eaters crave for more.... (my lecturer said one)
KARTer 2nd Gear January 3, 2012 Share January 3, 2012 err age? what about the number of teeth?.... those bo-geh should be given a good discount!! full set of teeth: full charge one tooth less: 5% discount, so on and so forth
