Just wondring as i ride on the road. I have seen cars that looks like brand new, yet they are having very old car plate such as SD-something, or even SC-something... so I'm wonder, did they swap car plate? I thought even if u renew the COE, u will be given another car plate number?

Here can do anything.

Just don't get caught =)

Ever see more and more cars with really dark tinted windows? Not only the German makes. Now even Altis and Sunny drivers/ owners are doing it.

=)

both car have plate B ?

car B is already with plate B.

as per the number suggest, each number can only be tied to one car!

1.3k to transfer to an existing vehicle which must be also under the same name(car owner name).

so if car owner is different name, u need to factor in vehicle transfer cost and vechile transfer count.

Sorry, Typo there. I mean:

Car A -> Plate B

Car B -> Plate A

If such A-to-B, B-to-A case, does the 1.3K still come into the picture? and how does this 1.3K come abt/make up of? where can i read abt it?

Ya, i mean, cos if my Car A kanna accident before(i wish to get rid), but cos i like Plate A at the same time. so i think it would cost lesser (and save trouble) for me to de-reg Car A with plate A, then buy back plate A(1 cost), then transfer it to Car B(1 cost), then de-reg Plate B.

Wouldnt it be, just a swap with both car plate(1 cost), then de-reg Car A, a more easy way out?

A to B and B to A can be done, but not sure would 2 vehicle be enough.

because when u transfer from one car to another, techanically the current number is strike off.

but in ur case both car is in transfer, u can check with them.

u will also incur vehicle transfer fee, insurance maybe(check with ur current insurer)

option B and option D show that $1300 to transfer the number to an existing vehicle.

cos both ur car is already on the road, so it will be option B and D.

anyway ur exampe of "1 cost" seem flaw, dont really understand the cost mehtodlogy, but i know what u r trying to achieve. think the below method should be more ideal.

the easy way out is :

transer plate A to car B (when both car A and car B having the same owner name)

after u transfer plate A out of car A. u pay $ for car A to be issued with any random number. ($321 inclusive of gst)

u can sell, throw, scrap the car to ur liking.

plate A to car B and plate B to car A is a waste of $ since u r not keeping car A.

why must the plate be under the same name to transfer? so difficult to sell like that

govt rule from ppl to milk the $$, i guess.

either way this method, govt also earn transfer cost $$.

gd way for them.

normally buyer borned all the transfer cost. guess this is the standard way from what i observed.

a nice number that ppl will buy, transfer cost is the neglible part i would say, else why would ppl pay to buy.

actualy, is damn stupid. u buy the plate, it is "yours" already. still need to have both cars under the same name. damn troublesome leh. no only transfer fees. need to pay insurance also.
