Octopus 3rd Gear September 7, 2011 Share September 7, 2011 Hi people, can I check if it is normal for the drainage traps to be looking like the attached photos? Any concern with the water-proofing? ↡ Advertisement
Achtung7 Neutral Newbie September 7, 2011 Share September 7, 2011 Certainly should not be done this way unless there is a new HDB specs that requires the pipes to be smaller... I would suggest that you ask HDB about it and get an official statement from them... this seems to be contractor cutting corners and sloppy workmanship... an inherent problem of lowest complying bidder getting the job... Nonpareil 4th Gear September 7, 2011 Share September 7, 2011 Your drainage pipe should never be smaller than the outlet. Thats one f--ked up job by whoever did it. The connection between the outlet and drain pipe should be seamless.
Mits_jc 5th Gear September 7, 2011 Share September 7, 2011 Looks like some sloppy workmanship to me man.

SimonTan 2nd Gear September 7, 2011 Share September 7, 2011 No wonder Ion can have drainage problem. Look at the poor cost cutting and lousy workmanship!! This is new HDB unit or your own private contractor remodeling you toilet?
Wolfy3769 2nd Gear September 7, 2011 Share September 7, 2011 TS, how old is ur house... old estate ppl change from metal pipe to PVC one will look like this.. for the HDB, think they are really "cutting corners"... even the bamboo hole also become smaller.. u look ard ur estate (especially old one), u will find that the new pipe are smaller than the previous one.. so u can understand why some place their water pressrure is not enough
Kezg1 5th Gear September 7, 2011 Share September 7, 2011 TS can I know where is this floor trap/ floor waste located at..
Octopus 3rd Gear September 7, 2011 Author Share September 7, 2011 Dear all, thanks for your comments. To answer some of your questions, this is at the master bedroom toilet, one at the shower area and one near the toilet bowl. Its a newly constructed "premium" HDB, tiling not from my contractor. The first photo the drain pipe is out-of-centre from the floor trap by 20mm. My concern is would this cause water-proofing problem in future, and is such workmanship acceptable in the construction industry? Lastly, what is the proper rectification method? I'll be sending an email to the party concern, lets see what they say....

LoverofCar 6th Gear September 7, 2011 Share September 7, 2011 Its worrying me as my flat would be ready next year. Imagine what other things was being short changed.... I used to live in the north ...newly build flat and the wall was cracking...so many hairline crack...water leak in from outside after heavy rain...needless to say..is a china construction company as main company...until I moved out 5 years later...they are still trying to patch here and there over the whole block... SimonTan 2nd Gear September 7, 2011 Share September 7, 2011 New flat? Wow...the grouting around the white square drain trap is farking poorly done, or should I say not done at all. If this is the visible cost cutting...just imagine the unseen cost cutting. Very dangerous...and problems and issues will appear very soon...like cracked walls.....damp patch on ceilings of toilets....etc...etc. Some more paying so much for HDB nowadays.....really not worth the money paid.
