KAH not stupid.

They brought in the UK civic. No one buys!! All prefer the PI Jap model.

I think this time this model will not come to Singapore.

It down to price isn't it ...... if they are able to price it competitively i dont not see the reason why they cannot sell the Made in UK model locally.

But I would think that Kah will likely get the US/Jap/Thai assembled model for our local market which in my opinion does not look as good.

Firstly, 3-door/ coupes just won't sell anywhere near as well as the 4-door sedan/ 5-door hatch equivalent.

And it's a pity that KM brought in the 3-door hatch only Type R spec, that's 2.0L and manual only.

They should at least bring in the 1.8i-Vtec Auto or 1.4 touch shift, or whatever that automated manual transmission is.

In fact, the new Civic should be the rebadged Fit!!!

Well, the EK CIVIC was selling at way above 100k in the lates 1990's. The 1st owner for my 1996 EK VTi paid 125k for the brand new car. There are still buyers ..... even at today's COE. The main difference is that Conti were also much more expensive at that time.

Forward to Y2011, the strong yen and weaker US$/Euro $ has close the gap in the price between a Jap and a Conti. A lot of potential Civic buyers have moved to VW Jetta .... as their prices are pretty close. For those with a higher budget they may upgrade to the entry level 318i and C180K.

The situation is different today but there will be buyers that are hardcore Civic supporter.

I owned 2 civics before and both are awesome, but one thing i'm quite sure about is I wouldn't buy conti cars because i feel that they are not as reliable as jap cars probably they got too many sensors/features/mechanisms or they are not built to tahan our climate whichever applies. I prefer cars that are simple packaged with a bit of performance. Furthermore compare price to cost ratio, maintenance of jap car will always be cheaper than contis.
