  1. Anyone know where can get good exchange rates?
  2. JDM, Euro and Exotic sports cars For the uninitiated, sports cars consist of 3 main categories: JDM, Euro, and Exotic. These sports cars come in a bunch of varying specifications. Let me give you some examples. The Renault Megane RS is a 4-cylinder turbocharged, manual, front-wheel-drive Euro sports car. Likewise, the Mclaren 720S is a V8 twin-turbocharged, automatic, rear-wheel-drive exotic sports car. Last but not least, we have the iconic JDM street-legal rally car – The Subaru Impreza WRX, a 4-cylinder turbocharged, all-wheel-drive sports car that is available in both the manual and automatic transmission. The list goes on and on, but you get my intention, don’t you? With dozens of offerings for sports cars of varying specifications, there is always an ideal sports car for you, no matter the specifications you require and whether you can afford it. Why 2030? Unless you have been living under a rock, you would have encountered the Electric Vehicle (EV) craze surrounding us lately. According to the SG Green Plan 2030 (SGP 2030) announced during Budget 2021, we will be looking at significant changes to the status quo. Nope, I am not talking about the rise in petrol duty rates. I am referring to the phasing out of Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles by 2040, driven by these three aspects of the SGP 2030: Cessation of new diesel cars and taxi registrations from 2025 Requirement of newly registered cars to be of cleaner-energy models from 2030; and All vehicles to run on cleaner energy by 2040 What does it mean for us? The SGP 2030, coupled with our beloved COE system, is the perfect formula for phasing out ICE cars in Singapore. Unfortunately, this will spell the demise of JDM, Euro and Exotic sports cars alike. From 2030 onwards, the supply of ICE sports cars will be what we currently have in the market. As such, does this mean that the low supply of ICE sports cars drives its market value up? If you wish to drive your dream Nissan GTR, BMW M4 or Lamborghini Aventador in the future, you better pray hard that its current owner renews its COE. Then again, it would be best to consider the maintenance and upkeep cost required for these ageing cars before purchasing them in the future. Similarly, manual transmission cars will be phased out eventually. Here's why. EVs have an electric motor in place of an ICE vehicle’s “engine” by using a single-speed transmission that regulates their electric motor. Except for the Porsche Taycan, which uses a Two-Speed gearbox. As such, EVs come only in automatic transmissions, and the phasing out of existing manual transmission ICE cars means the demise of manual transmission cars. Electric Sports Cars Yes, they are insanely fast. Yes, it produces instantaneous torque. But can we consider them as true-blue sports cars? Aside from the speed and torque, car enthusiasts also seek the pleasure of high engine revs, the burbling exhaust sound and, most importantly, the liberty to modify various car performance components – None of which an electric sports car is capable of fulfilling. Furthermore, the single-speed transmission that regulates its electric motor seems like a bore that takes the fun out of driving compared to manual gear shifts or the quick gear shifting of DCT transmissions. For those Gen Y & Z car enthusiasts out there, I will do one for you. — Here’s a plea to those of you that currently own any sports car; please renew your COE so that the future generations of car enthusiasts will have a chance to own the car of our (childhood) dream someday. Last Thoughts The golden question here is, will a manual (class 3) license still be relevant in the near future? If it is irrelevant and deemed obsolete, this will remove any segregation between the community’s existing “Class 3 vs 3A” mentality. If you are unaware of the "Class 3 vs 3A" commotion, read the article below: --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 3. Hmmmm.... why no one starts thread on Euro 2020 Championship. Let me starts .... Sancho, Sterling proving to be England's greatest strength; defensive questions persist SOUTHAMPTON, England -- It should come as no surprise that a national team whose sole World Cup success (1966) was achieved by a side known as the "Wingless Wonders" have often struggled to find room for creative wide players. England's 5-3 victory over Kosovo in Euro 2020 qualifying Tuesday showed that is no longer the case. England have never lacked archetypal players -- the gallant centre-back, the tireless box-to-box midfielder, the bruising centre-forward -- but with occasional notable exceptions (Stanley Matthews and Tom Finney in the 1940s and 1950s, John Barnes and Chris Waddle in the 1980s), slippery wingers have rarely been one of their calling cards. Link : https://global.espn.com/football/club/england/448/blog/post/3940260/sanchosterling-proving-to-be-englands-greatest-strength-defensive-questions-persist What happen to the $85 million pound defence ????
  4. Searched but couldn't find any so starting new thread. Chanced upon the inaugural UEFA Nations League game bt Germany and France...then realised it leads to the Euro 2020 tournament by 2019. Both teams played like they were in WC...Germany appeared very changed. Could had won by at least three goals if not for France stand-in keeper whom saved at least 5 almost certain attempts in the second 45mins. Sane came on in the last 10mins of the game but couldn't make much impact. Germany number 9 was excellent on the left flank beating franch number 2 right back numerous times to create dangerous crosses... Muller had a great chance but he tried to volley a shot instead of a header...team mates were not happy about it. The French had little chance but still outstanding in terms of defence. Their shape was impressive with constant shifting to close down the Germans advance. They could had 5 up front to force their opponents to play long ball knowing they could be quick with short and rapid passes. The Germans nearly lost the game 2s after injury time though when a defender cleared a ball in the box but bounced off a french player and the ball beat Neuer but went over the crossbar.
  5. Looking at the current crisis. With the euro at a all tim low. Would car spares be adjusted accordingly, or will it still be all time high to instil a sense of quality and vast profit for stockist?

  7. For all those who like Euro plate, small plate, chrome plate, SMLJ plate....You will get caught: http://motoring.asiaone.com/Motoring/News/...626-150974.html Hundreds caught with illegal plates Over 700 motorists hauled up in first four months of this year alone. -myp Fri, Jun 26, 2009 my paper [top: A 7 series BMW that spotted the Land Transport Authority's (LTA) disapproved Euro car plates at Bencoolen Street. More car owners are using Euro car plates which are considered illegal as their font size and colour do not conform to the LTA's vehicle licence plate requirements.] By DARYLL NANAYAKARA THEY are bright, stylish - and illegal. And they are hot, so much so that some car owners are willing to risk a jail term of up to three months just so they could have number plates that look good even though they do not conform with Land Transport Authority (LTA) stipulations, such as European Union-style ones. The LTA told my paper that 726 drivers were caught in the first four months this year for such offences. For the whole of last year, only 2,039 were caught. Car workshops told my paper that such licence plates are still flying off the shelves despite the severe penalty. On the average, the workshops said they each receive between 35 and 50 requests per month from drivers wanting to switch to the illegal licence plates - which can cost between $40 and $65 each, depending on the size and design. Mr S. L. Teo, 32, from Autozone Motoring, said: "There will always be a demand for the nicer ones that are illegal. "The approved ones have too many restrictions in terms of how they should look and how big they should be." Another workshop operator, Deck Carcraft's Jackson Kang, 27, said: "Customers are willing to take the risk even after we tell them the plates are not approved ones. "To them, how their car looks is more important." Another reason smaller plates appeal to drivers is to avoid detection by the authorities. Illegal plates that use reflective fonts and contain ornamental marks alongside the vehicle's registration number may make it difficult to read the car's licence number when the vehicle is moving, for example, when it is involved in a hit-and-run accident. A staff member of a workshop, who declined to be named, said: "The majority of the drivers come with heavily modified cars they use in illegal races and the smaller the plates, the harder it would be for the Traffic Police to read them." According to LTA guidelines on the One.Motoring website, approved licence plates should have letters and figures that are 70mm high, 50mm wide and 10mm broad. However, illegal plates usually have fonts that are between 10mm and 15mm smaller than stipulated by the LTA. A spokesman for LTA said drivers caught with plates that do not conform to requirements face a fine of up to $1,000 or a jail term of up to three months. In addition, the drivers would have to have the defective plates made good within seven days or risk facing a maximum fine of $2,000 or six months' jail - the penalty for repeat offenders. 8. From sep17, petrol cars need to meet euro 6. I understand most cars are still euro 4. Are there already a selection of euro 6 cars in Singapore to scout for?
  9. http://www.nea.gov.sg/corporate-functions/newsroom/news-releases/year/2014/month/12/singapore-will-usher-in-euro-vi-emission-standard-for-diesel-vehicles-from-january-2018 Euro 6 for diesels coming in less than 3 months. Will this mean the end of pickup trucks, eg. Triton, Navara, Ranger? Anyone driving commercial vehicle experienced problems with diesel particulate filter so far and have to replace the whole thing? Costs thousands of dollars to replace.... becomes clogged with non-combustible ash (not soot) at 100,000 km. Will it be more economical to drive petrol commercial vehicles?

  14. Hi all, I am thinking of getting a eurovan for daily usage and looking at the below choices.. whats your opinion on the following choices with regards to reliability? on a tight budget so can only consider the following.. http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=438473&DL=1288 http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=439962&DL=1000 http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=438474&DL=1000 http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=437395&DL=2717 http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=414364&DL=2615 http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=431120&DL=2286 http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=437271&DL=1019 will really appreciate your input on opinions..
  15. shortlisted a few automatic models, Fiat Doblo LWB, Opel Vivaro MTA and Volkswagen Caddy DSG with the Caddy being the most expensive. Basically, I heard that DSG is very comfortable and powerful to drive. However, I did hear in many threads since 2011 that the 7 speed DSG Dry is very problematic compared to the 6 speed DSG wet. However, now that we are in 2014 and that there has been (maybe) some corrections to the DSG, is it still a problematic gearbox? Regarding the MTA gearbox, I have had first hand experience, I do not really like the shifting mechanism as it feels laggy and sometimes jerky at 1st gear, and going up slope from standstill will roll back.
  16. Anyone has extra euro and swiss franc to sell? Do PM me amount and rate. Thks!
  17. According to the Wall Street Journal Qoros 3 sedan had performed beyond the minimum level requirement of safety. It had gained the best score so far in 2013 crash test.
  18. Is the Euro R manual version a good car to drive in terms of sportiness and how does it compare against the older SIR? Me talking about pure driving experience, gimmicks or not does not matter. How is the normal fuel consumption ranges and trips to workshops? And is it a huge risk getting a second or even years later a Coe one? Please come in advise. Thanks.
  19. Less than 2 months to go before the new tax cuts in. Diesel anyone? http://motoring.asiaone.com/Motoring/News/...223-329727.html

Where can I get Euro number plates for my Golf?
  21. SH & MIO for monopolising the Euro 2012.... Even news at Channel 5 & CNA carries only still pictures of the match played and no showing of how the goals are scored. "F" to both of them as even their sport news (MIO is 116 & SH is 220) doesn't carries report of Euro 2012. Only carries a short interviews (1 or 2 minutes only) with players or the managers and nothing else. What they should have done is at least let Channel 5 & CNA show some highlights of the match played early morning. This is to please all soccer fans here who does not buy the programms because of the matches play so early in the morning and next day we have to work. If the matches play between 9pm to 1am, I would have paid for it.
  22. It is time again. Euro 2012! 8 June
  23. Just like that, Holland got booted out together with Denmark in Group B [shakehead] Robben, van Persie and gang failed to win even a single match & suffered the same fate as World Cup '98 champions France which kena knocked out in their quest 4 years later in the qualifying match of World Cup 2002. At least Zidane, Henry and party drew with Uruguay then... But Holland in EURO 2012? So what are the chances of the Three Lions squad qualifying with big Roo back? Will they triumph over Ukraine in their last match in Group D? We shall see...
