Runforyourlife 5th Gear February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 Owned a MCS convertible previously, unforgettable experience despite it's pre-BMW SC engine and typical subpar british fit and finish. Had to move on for increasing family size. Targetting the MCS JCW as my mid-life crisis car in 1-2 years time especially when I don't have to pay so much COE. Current F55/56 interior looks like any other BMW except for the large screen in the middle. How about the new clubman sir? Clubman looks like a stylish box van. After having owned a 2 door mini, anything that is more in size or number of doors does't appeal to me.... even the new 4 door MC. The rest of the mini range seem like a compromise in every segment they try to squeeze themself into: Clubman ---stationwagon segment Countryman ---SUV segment Paceman ---SUV - even less doors segment Coupe --- coupe segment My plan is to change into a large family car for the wife to bash around in and sneak in another impractical mid-life crisis car when her attention to family transport needs has been satisfied. Current F55/56 interior looks like any other BMW except for the large screen in the middle. Clubman looks like a stylish box van. Frankly....I am not really concerned about the interior design of the mini cooper. Just give me the classic mini cooper handling and power and tuning of JCW with paddle shift....I am satisfied. Anyway, JCW auto shifts faster than any human can. See their respective 0-100 timing. With auto gear match throttle blipping, shouldn't miss out on too much fun. I foresee myself going from East to West and back daily, most of time caught in evening jams. Etnt Turbocharged February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 Didn't have experience with the R56 and a recent test drive of the F56 was my first experience of the mini. Actually I liked the interior of the F56 and thought it was more chic and modern than a F20. Not sure if there's a difference in the implementation of the stop-start between F20 and F56, but I thought the F56 was less jerky in that aspect. They claim that they do not overtrade and list is list but can throw in things like extended warranty, servicing package, etc. Their trade in value is the same as other EK outlets (eg. But well, traffic jam also will become tired. the whole idea is that some AT these days are so advanced that the change in gear is no longer slower than manual shift. That's the point about shifting fast. And a fast shifting car that can response to your demand with an equally responsive engine/throttle response to match is no less engaging to drive, since the whole idea about fun driving is for your thoughts/intention to be transmitted to the 4 contact points as quickly and fuss free as possible. For eg. you want to downshift 2 gear to enter a tight bend, you ease off on the throttle as you dive in and once pass the vertex throttle in to power out. Taking out the manual shift component, you just press 2 times on the paddle shift (-) and you can focus all your attention to directing the car along the best line, on the way out...you can keep your pedal floored while upshifting with the (+) as the RPM bounce off the rev limiter. Let's not go into Manual Vs AT discussion... hahah..... I see your purist point but I hope you see my embrace-new-tech point too. PEACE Mine was a used unit from Mini. It's off in sports mode, so I figure if that's your default mode then it'll be off permanently. Didn't ask if it can be permanently switched off by default in other modes. Anyway in comparison to the F10, I thought the SS was more liveable since the jerk is less. Side-point, I can barely feel the engine restarting in the Mz3 2.0 SS. I just looked through the mini habitat used cars on offer: MCS (Thunder Grey) Jul 2015 mileage 2,100km asking $152,800 Brand new list price for MCS is $146,300 Kind of brainless decision in this case.
