Aiyo! Still got to provide you with links?? Just like my vendor always like to ask me back for 10 different things, when I ask him about 1 issue... [laugh]

I not so free lah...

By the way, the HK case is even more fascinating because I thought PRC has very strict immigration laws. But they kept their word, and really maintain a different system in HK SAR.

well sorry bro but USA is a huge country with multiple states.

it's not easy to find any one piece of news and conclude that illegal immigrants are fighting and getting rights to stay in the country.

i can't find any such news about USA from the internet.

http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/news/2011...labama-schools/

as for HK like i said it's an economic zone for China, not a country.

PRC is still going to have the final say...as in any other matters in HK.

appeal will go to Beijing.

PR cant buy new subsidized flat. they can only buy at market rate.

you do get that your talking about 35% of the population right?

you do get that that a pr is contributing to our society and industry at least as much as local is so need a car just as much as a local does?

No Gov is going to (or should) alienate/discriminate against 35% of its population.

but when it comes to limited resources, it should be citizens first.

After all, should the sh!t hit the fan, it will be us grabbing our rifles to shoot your candy a$$.

congestion is the fault of PRs?

Ok ill add that to the list of 'things we are blaming others for'

Holland villiage very busy these days - cant get a seat at the restaurants - maybe we should ban PRs from going there on weekends?

Your clearly a total Nazi

I am not saying I am 100% right either... I not saying Prs are main culprits but I am sure our Govt can think along this direction to improve. I am annoy when the Govt just cut COE just because the road is congested. They can come out with more ways and methods to solve it. So you are saying our Govt also Nazi, they banned chewing gum too. Do all chewing gum eaters are litter bugs? I think is the value and mindset being channel down to the new generation leaders is wrong. At least MBT comes out with ERP to solve congestion though it still jams the road.

you clearly dont get what a nazi is. chewing gum ban isnt discriminating against 35% of our population

you go tell 35% of our population they cant keep their car or from now on have to pay non citizen car tax and see what happens to your legs.....

nationalism is not the answer to all our problems - its just the easiest for the simple minds

like it or not our gov has to look after ALL our population interests and THAT INCLUDES THE 35% THAT ARE PR.

dont like it - tough. this is the real world

the only time in this day and age a singaporean will ever need to pick up a rifle and shoot anyone for real it will be if you p15s off 35% of your population enough by making them feel alienated and 2nd class.

Seriously somepeople are playing with fire with their extreme nationalism. I know PRs who have lived here much longer than most of the so called citizens on this forum.

stop using the 'risk life' excuse - it doesnt hold water given the number of combat trained and of fighting age forces we atually have.

Go take a look at america. a country with the biggest military in the world, how many of them are black or hispanic? how many of them are 1st or 2nd generation risking their lives for the adopted country?

I tell you what for me has lowered the quality of life here. Its the rise of extreme ignorant nationalism. a home where 35% are made to feel like crap is not a nice home to live in.

well..when a guest come to my house to visit me. I offer them drinks or maybe a meal or sometimes a sleep over in my guest room.

I will welcome them. But there should be a limit. I don't offer them my bed with my wife and everything I have in the house which was meant for my own family. I don't invite so many guests over that it affects my own family's' daily life routine.

There must be a distinct difference between owner & guest.

Why cant our Ah Lui be more creative in handling our COEs! Congested only means cut down on COE! WTH!always use the the easy way out.Y dun restrict PR in buying cars?or they pay higher COEs??Since we have world class transport! Owners with more than one car will have to pay a higher COE for the next and so on!?!Certain profession like sales people can have slight privilege in buying cars capped at certain category only? I think there are really many ways than only cut COE!!

Wonder how your suggestion going to reduce car population if you don't want to cut the COE quoto? The number of new cars put on the road is directly link to the number of COE quota snapped up.

Even if you make PR and owner of 2 cars pay more for COE, it's still the same number of COE snapped up. The number of new cars put on the road will not be affected. History has shown 100% of COE will be snapped up each time they are release regardless of how ridiculously high the price is.

What is needed is more creative ways to encourage usage of public transport, make driving or car usage more expensive.

Actually, I remembered one opposition MP did propose the COE to be tiered base instead of across board since some families esp those with special needs really need a car. These people will be marginalized due to the high COE. Hence, if COE is tier based, for families owning 1 car, maybe charge COE at certain % of the COE and 2nd car 2 x % of 1st car COE and so on.

PR should just rent the cars from the market itself. Anyway they won't be here till they die. if not those would have convert to local citizen instead.

Not allow sgp to buy/drive malaysian car +1

3/4 stupid fuel rule +1

Add COE on top of buying car in sg +1

Please do not compare about the land between sg & malaysia.

when u need a car, means u need a car regardless on the land u r at

simpur...

IMPROVE public transport first, make sure every mofo in society can AFFORD to use it.

AND SHOW REAL EVIDENCE of improvments BEFORE touching anything related to cars. Benchmark will be HKG/JPN levels of puntuality and conenctivity with multiple modes of transport. Trains/buses overlapping.

Abolish COE / standardised minimal ownership road tax across the board.

Cars will still have PARF which last 10years, after 10years, they lose their PARF paper values. To keep a car over 10yrs will mean incurring paper-value loss. Will be up to owner to decide.

ERP@$10 a pop and distance/location-based road tax. Highest tax during peak-periods.

TAXI's / Commercial vehicles get discounted rates if traveling within town area within a certain time.

If TAXIs and Commercial vehicles leave the town area within a stipulated time-frame. No congestion charge.

Wanto buy car can, but to drive during peak periods will be a bitch. Driving during off-peak periods will not be such a bitch.

Car lovers can keep their cars, take the improved public transport system and enjoy their cars during off peak periods or in ulu locations.

Taxis/commercial vehicles can still do their thing if they are just making drop-offs/deliveries.

Replace transport minister. Abolish 3/4 tank rule.
