To check. do you normally remove your 16" spare tyre from the car after you've upgraded your rim from 16" to 18"? If tyre puncture, can i use the 16" spare tyre together with the other 3 18" tyres for short distance drive?

No problem,in fact most new car now come with a "Space Saver" spare tyre, which is smaller & thinner than the car tyres.

so do you remove your spare tyre from the car? Spare tyre is very heavy and can lighten the car if remove it.

not advisable to remove the spare tyre. its not only serve as a spare tyre... the spare tyre will also help to absorb some impact during rear collision.

I just encountered my tyre punctured today. [knife]

Unfortunately Honda Fit don't come with spare tyre and i had to spend much torment calling around for help and advice given i'm a new car owner.

Nothing beats replacing a spare tyre than having to do temp patching and pumping the already damaged tyre.

I bought one in the end and probably will look for one piece of rim to go with the patched tyre for spare.

I feel its good to have, but not really needed in a place like Singapore. The chance of getting strain on a isolated route far from any civilization, in a cold winter night, & no reception on a cell phone is next to none.

It could takes a while for the toll truck to come, & maybe troublesome, but spare tire is not a necessity in my opinion.

if u're concern with the weight , why not just go to a scrapyard , and look for a lightweight rim with same pcd , most of the time it comes with tyre , although it may differ from your size ,

the steelie ones are much more heavier

Spare tyre out of my car since Day 1.

Never try to change a tyre at roadside, it's dangerous.

Tow truck in SG is straight-forward.

But if you are traveling to MY, then it's a different issue.

your pocket is lighter without any insurance policy [laugh]

Spare tyre is like insurance for ememgency

Space saver is a lower premium policy that help you mobilise your car with limited speed of 80km/h

No Pain No gain.

I got and checked out for anti rust at the spare tyre storage area by the SC and confirmed that the anti rust has been applied there. I guess the earlier complaints that anti rust was left out of that area has been rectified subsequently.

yes, if not for the spare tyre, my whole family and i would be stranded in the dark road side in malaysia's small road.

was lucky the few abangs i saw at that time weren't robbers [sweatdrop] but fellow victims of a huge pothole.. and they even helped me change the tyre out

Hmm. I need to check if there is a spare tire or tire repair kit in the truck. I am now on Winter tires, so I am not sure putting a spare (if there is one), presumingly summer tire is a good idea.

The more common practice to to have tire repair kit.

Diamond policy = Speedy breakdown service wihtin 1 hr / NO spare tyre

Gold policy = breakdown service no time promised ? NO spare tyre

Silver policy = got spare tyre but you have to change yourself

Bronze policy = no spare tyre and you have to repair with your repair kit (is not going to be easy as what you think)
