Tom_kkh 1st Gear December 7, 2011 Share December 7, 2011 ok why master degree holders find it harder to find jobs, my observation, might not be accurate :- 1) the company they went for interview only have budget for a normal degree holder and most master degree holders asking price is too high 2) the superior, the master degree interviewee be working under, felt threaten of his qualification. 3) most company not willing to offer a normal degree job to a master degree holder even if the interviewee is ok with the pay, as they worry the guy will jump ship very fast, waste time training. I have this friend who is 29 this yr. He had only N level to begin with. He joined the Army after enlistment and was a regular for many years till he left the army at 26 years old. After that...he took all kinds of IT related courses you can think of...he's fully certified in ALL Microsoft/Cisco/and-what-have-you courses. Today he's earning 5k a month. Like I told him many a times, he should be proud of himself and I am sure his wife is proud of him too. Many of his peers with degree in IT don't earn that much too. I believe the guy got conned. Some/many foreigners working as cleaners hold MSc. in Political Science, too. How many jobs here accept Masters in literature as a criterial? I suspect this Adam guy is not local. Local ppl are a practical lot, most get degrees which are in demand. Really got to have the passion to keep yourself up to date even in certifications. I suppose he needs to 'renew' some of his certs almost every year continuously until he can't take it anymore.
