Wishcumstrue 6th Gear December 11, 2011 Share December 11, 2011 Since 2009, things have moved on and even faster. China now has a even larger UAV that matches the size and weight of Global Hawk + 7000 km range last observed in Sep'11. "Soar Dragon" in HD taken on 30-Sep 2011. Note the winglets. Cerano 1st Gear December 11, 2011 Author Share December 11, 2011 When "Tianchi" 天翅 UAV was tested and shown in 2008/9, it was already a turbine-powered UAV rather than prop engines currently used in majority of US UAV of similar size (e.g Predator/Reaper) . Most jet-based UAV are intended for hi-alt long-range missions like Global Hawk. So in a strict sense, it is not a copy-cat, but more of resulting fundamental design based on similar mission specifications. "Tianchi" test run in Chengdu, 2008. Note similar size as MQ1/9 rather than jet-powered Global Hawk. Given the choice, there is no doubt that the Chinese would rather have all the technologies of the Global Hawk. Unfortunately the Global Hawk is seen as one of the main propenents of the unyielding eye policy as described by former LTG. Stanley McChrystal before he was relieved. Its one of the most policed and restricted pieces of hardware. The Chinese are definitely trying to copy it but are unable to do so for now.

Now this is invention. At least it doesnt appear to be a latant copy of the Predator/Global Hawk. Wings increase efficiency up to 4-6% so im not surprised by the range. However this appears to have 2 hard points under each wing. Is it capable of any payload?
Renegade777 5th Gear December 11, 2011 Share December 11, 2011 uhm language is not owned by any country. and speaking of social etiquette, i think they have none Not true. You are typing "ang mo". This language does not come from China but comes from "ang mo" countries. If you are a Chinese, your language is still Mandarin and your ancestor are from China and not anywhere else. They speak mandarin. Unless your ancestors comes from ang mo countries. Still copycat if you are a Chinese.

Renegade777 5th Gear December 11, 2011 Share December 11, 2011 Should leave PRC issues aside. Some people condemn China like anything. As a Chinese, I think it is not appropriate for a Chinese to condemn Chinese. Not happy can also keep quiet mah. But as a Chinese and if we purposely condemn and propagate the bad things about China shows what kind of person we are. For example, the poor kid in China kana hit by the van and nobody help her. Everyone curse and swear. But in USA, a old man kana step upon until dead during shopping and no one helps him yet no one curse and swear.
Renegade777 5th Gear December 11, 2011 Share December 11, 2011 ... globalisation a hiao bo? Hahahaha.......it is the originality of it. Globalisation does not mean English derive from China. You can still term it as globalisation but still copy becasue English does not originate from China.

Personally i think for the most we are as far removed as can be from them. We are fundamentally different in terms of thought, understanding, culture as well as speech. We are not the same. Besides, us being Chinese has no bearing on whether they are right or wrong. Whether you are black or white or yellow, if someone else is wrong he is wrong. You do not detract from the fact that he is wrong. Wrong means wrong. If your parents are wrong similarly correct them and dont be afraid to be corrected. However, that does not mean you should not be respectful still. Correct and help improve. If you hide behind the shield of say "I am senior so even when im wrong I should be shown respect so dont argue" then there's something seriously wrong with your values. Nowadays all the youths condemn china, we have a mentality that we no longer are "chinese" but are singaporeans. whoever can speak singlish belongs to our group and neither can we depend on China nor will China give us second thoughts. We as "chinese" singaporeans are mere outsiders.
Wishcumstrue 6th Gear December 11, 2011 Share December 11, 2011 The Chinese are definitely trying to copy it but are unable to do so for now. On the contrary, the other nations outside of US, are pretty innovative when comes to cutting-edge implementations. Copying/spying/imitations/espionage had been part of Great Power hidden warfare for years. e.g: We had the US getting Nazi German scientist for their rocket technology in 1945 We had US stealing UK's supersonic research secrets before X1's record-breaking flight in 1946 We had UK/US copying Nazi Germans's turbojet design from their Me262. We had Russians copying UK's jet engine before putting their variant into Mig-15. And it goes on and on... Problem is we only get to hear the "good-guys" stories as we only allow our self to be exposed one-language publications and writings. That can be a BIG handicap. And in China's case, with over tens-of-thousands of engineering graduates and with Hunger to try, my bet is with PRC. Having the best minds doesn't always yield real-world dividend when one is afraid to try. ↡ Advertisement
