Volkswagen Jetta is a good mid range sedan car. They deserves to win sgcarmart car of the year 2011 "New Sedan of the Year" category.

New Jetta is very spacious and performance is excellent. Went up to KL in my friend's unit and we made it there and back on 3/4 tank of petrol, super economical. Downside to me is that the interior looks quite plain and boring.

very good car as compare to those MIJ and MIK for the price you pay.

Head light and rear light for new facelift are more 3D effect and nicer than previous model... The HP is also higher than any of its class.

Hate the rear aircon design eating into the middle foot path. Can't even rest my feet comfortably.

My previous VW Jetta TSI should deserves this, instead of the new 2011 model. The old model having the following, which is new 2011 model does :

 

1. Better handling corners for old Jetta TSI as compare to new model.

2. Old Jetta TSI cabin fitting quality is better than the new model, though size is slightly smaller.

3. LCD module design have lose out to BMWs and Cruze.

4. Overall external design looks backward, as compare to newer other conti , Koreans and Cruze.

 

I guessed VW could have reduce quality of cabin's materials by increasing the size to attractive buyers. Asians in general likes bigger cars, as to their face concern.

The current jetta looks like a quick copy of the A4. They just pass down the design within the family... They have to do better...

I have sold my old Jetta for an Altis. Reason was my friend previously have problem with gearbox of about 2 yrs old car. So I just play safe. Not sure any other users have this problem. I have also heard cars comes with Turbo, tend to have more problem later.

No doubt it's good compare to MIJ and MIK. But when it comes to reliability and the 7-speed gearbox, It is still a big question mark.

The Jetta Sports is a fantastic car, small engine but as fast a a BMW 323 or 325, the best thing is that the evos and wrx wont' even be bothered with you until they smell your smoke....lol

good fuel economy, handsome and mature new exterior that grows on you, performance that trashes most 1.6, 1.8, 2.0L NA jap/kr makes, competitive pricing compared to jap/kr makes, lower road tax, decent amount of cabin features.

 

only thing not good is the cheapo interior (side door panels are hard plastic, luckily dashboard is still soft plastic).

I had test driven both the Rabbit and the Jetta during my search for a VW car.

 

From my limited experience, it seemed that the Rabbit is much much a better drive than the Jetta.

 

I went in with an intention to buy the Jetta and end up I got a hatchback (Golf) even with the consideration that I may have a bigger family in time to come.
