13177 Hypersonic January 13, 2012 Share January 13, 2012 Oh ok, so now they are at least willing to sell the new 2012 YOM cars? Last year, they didn't even give me that option! Just said, these are YOM 2009, no further choices! Wondering how come honda still have so many YOM2009 stocks? Whereas toyota already selling YOM2011 cars?! Thought toyota sales also drop a lot?! ↡ Advertisement
Civic6228 6th Gear January 13, 2012 Share January 13, 2012 I find honda cars also always selling at least 10K more than other jap cars. And honda cars always for those hard core fans, even though their cars price always over-priced! I am a Honda supporter having driven 2 Civics in the past. If I going back to a Jap again, Honda will remain one of those make that I will consider first. Honda is not over priced, they are more expensive compared to a ALTIS or even a Jetta because of the higher OMV. Attached the link for the cost of car for December 2011. http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onem...Cost_Update.pdf Honda 1.8A OMV 26k, cost 131k Selling 132k Toyota ALTIS OMV 14.6k, cost 86k, selling 104k VW Jetta OMV 18.6k, cost 85k, selling 115k Honda is not overprice at all ...... just that it has a higher OMV and the cost of the car is much higher. KM is bleeding. Based in above figures, KM are not making any margin selling the Civic. Buying a Jetta and AD having a 30k margin, IMO VW is overpriced not Honda. Civic6228 6th Gear January 13, 2012 Share January 13, 2012 Mazda is alway selling their car at high price ... 10k higher than the remaining... IMHO, we should not just look at the selling price of the car, we should compared the OMV and the depreciation of the car. I have not done the analysis for Mazda but traditionally the AD has been putting a pretty high mark up on their cars.
Chpeck Clutched January 13, 2012 Share January 13, 2012 The Japanese makes are hard hit by the Japan triple disaster. Honda & Toyota are hit even harder by the Bangkok floods. Looking at the numbers I think most of the cars sold are in early part of 2011. This sale result has nothing to do with the disasters. It is all about COE, high COE premium cars rule. Ctng Neutral Newbie January 13, 2012 Share January 13, 2012 kia still selling old model so the sales drop. hyundai increasing because of new model and high coe and toyota did the best even with old models. the sales figure is still 3x of hyundai and many more times then others. Hyundai the bestest. Does it include the taxi count?
Des_k 1st Gear January 13, 2012 Share January 13, 2012 Actually what i think is different, they are overpriced when they first bring in.. 1.8L OMV 26k... that why the tax are higher... I doubt KM will be losing but maybe in paper yes.. So far I know of KM, they seldom bring down the price becos of maintaining the branded name. Thought toyota sales also drop a lot?! Toyota has always been - you buy, then they take order. They don't usually stock their cars. That's why they always have this long waiting time (around 3 months) after you sign the dotted line. Last time my Vios I order in May, take car key in August, car manufactured in July -- fresh from oven! ↡ Advertisement
